“Which is very important for children's brain development: Studying or Playing?"

Assalamualaikum all of my friends. How are you all? I hope you all are well. I am also fine. Today I am here to participate in the engagement contest of the first week of season 16 in "Hindwhale Community". The topic of today's engagement contest is "children's brain development" which is very important nowadays. I present my post to you with thanks to "Hindwhale Community" team.

Which is more important for children between play or study?

I think education is most important for children because a person's mental development takes place during childhood. During this time their brains are quite healthy and then they start living according to what they learn. Moreover, we all know a common saying and that is "Education is the backbone of a nation" so for the development of the society and to build a modern society an educated nation is needed first.

But play is also important here for children which helps them develop physically through physical activity. Sports keeps children healthy both physically and mentally which is very important for them. But I think nothing can be such a great asset as good education.

Are children lagging behind in studies and sports these days?

I think most of the children nowadays are lagging behind in education and sports. Looking at the current scenario we can see that children and teenagers are addicted to mobile phones. The activities of children and teenagers can be observed on various social media through their mobiles which is causing harm to their studies. When I was a child, we used to do sports as well as study very well because mobile phones were not so popular in Bangladesh then. But nowadays mobile phones are cheap and easily available, every child is getting into the hands of teenagers whose misuse is leading the young generation to harm. Moreover now playgrounds are decreasing and children are getting more addicted to mobile games as they are settled there.

Due to the lack of playing fields and the internet addiction in the age of the internet, children have become indifferent to sports and studies

Is online education useful for my child?

I definitely think that online education is useful for our children because there is a lot of educational information available in today's online era which has made the education system much easier. But there are some cases where we must be careful and that is nowadays various falsehoods are spread on different sites online which confuse people. So to deal with these confusing situations we must be careful and take knowledge from online platforms on appropriate topics.

Nowadays, kids are doing online classes through mobiles, laptops sitting at home which is very useful and saves time. So sometimes mobile phone can help small children to conduct studies in short time and easily.

How does online learning affect children's mental and physical health?

While online education makes education easier, it also affects children's physical and mental health. Since the introduction of online education system, children spend more time staring at mobile or laptop screens, which has a negative impact on their mental and physical health. Even the light of the mobile or laptop screen is harmful to our eyes and if we look at it for a long time, it causes discomfort in the body including eye pain, headache. So I think spending too much time studying online harms children's physical and mental health.

Sitting in front of electronic devices online for long periods of time can lead to deterioration of children's physical and mental health.
