Steemit Engagement Challenge / S16/W4 - "Children Vs Extracurricular Activities "

in Hindwhale Community4 months ago (edited)

Firstly, I would like to thank @HindWhale Community for coming up with such a great topic that is needed to discuss because it’s about the youth of the country. And anything that can help in the betterment of the youth is important. So, thank you Hindwhale community for thinking about the welfare of society and the youth.

Now, let’s begin with my perspective on extracurricular activities for children.

How can extracurricular activities help children's physical and mental growth?

Extracurricular activities are equally as important as studies because they help in the overall development of the child. The practical knowledge and skills can’t be developed by just reading books. One needs to be active physically, mentally, and socially.

Extracurriculars like sports, dance, yoga, and martial arts, all help to be physically fit and develop the skill of teamwork.

Likewise, extracurriculars like mind games and public speaking build confidence, the ability to think out of the box, communication skills, and teamwork.

Do today's children like extracurricular activities, or are they forced to participate by their parents?

Every child is different and every child needs a different level of support. Some are extroverts and like to participate in all kinds of activities. On the other hand, some children are introverted and shy, and they need extra support and motivation from parents to participate in extracurricular activities. I won’t say that parents need to force them, it’s just that parents need to guide and motivate them in different ways because if you force your children to do something, they will not give their 100% nor they will do that activity from the heart. And such participation is not worth it as they won’t learn anything from it and it might also develop stress and anxiety.

Is extracurricular activity necessary for children?

Yes, extracurricular activity is necessary for children as it helps in the overall development of the child and makes them ready for the practical world. Bookish knowledge won't help you grow and survive in the real world. You need to be confident and able to handle situations in life. And that confidence, attitude, and smartness are developed through extracurricular activities.

Which are the best extracurricular activities for today's children?

In my opinion, the best extracurricular activities for today’s children are public speaking, debate, sports, playing chess, dance, and martial arts. These are the activities that develop confidence, self-esteem, new ways of thinking, communication, and physical fitness.

It is true that extracurricular activities is as important as classroom studying; both has a similar impacts on children’s wellbeing. Outdoor activities can help children survive and thrive in the real world which is why parents should support and lead the children.
Your perspective on this topic is truly amazing, I’m wishing you success!

You're absolutely right that some kids need more encouragement than others to participate, but forcing them is counterproductive. That gentle guidance and motivation is key, as you said: "if you force your children to do something, they will not give their 100% nor they will do that activity from the heart." Finding activities that naturally excite and engage each child is so important. Good luck in the contest! 😊

Play involving physical activity helps the physical growth of the child. A child cannot concentrate only on studies for long so he has to engage in other activities. Other activities include cultural activities, drawing, swimming, skating or other activities that children like to play. Extracurricular activities make children confident. Good luck to you.
