Describe what sports/game is popular most in your country.

Football is the most popular game in my country Tunisia, because it is the simplest sport to practice and does not require any particular equipment or space except the ball, even the ball can be done without it and replaced by a can of mineral soda that we squeezed with our feet, as we sometimes do. I did it at school when I was a child.

You only need 22 players in professional matches, but any number of people available can play almost anywhere, you don't need a special court like in basketball -ball or volleyball for example.

The ease of playing this game means that we all play it in one way or another, and therefore it is easy for us to interact with football matches on TV and feel the feelings of the players and the difficulty maneuvers that they perform and trying to maintain the accuracy of their passes, and that interaction doesn't necessarily come to you from watching other sports that you haven't played, so you see all this popularity of football, because it has crossed most people's lives in one way or another.

Is that game played in international competitions like the Olympics or other world championships?

The FIFA World Cup is the most watched event in the world along with the Olympic Games. In addition to that, football has other major and highly publicized competitions: the Euro, the Champions League, the Copa America, the Premier League... it is also the example of the latter that the other championships are trying to copy: export the football "brand" internationally, especially in the emerging markets of the Middle East and East and South East Asia.

Tunisia has qualified for 6 World Cups and 20 African Cups of Nations and participated in four editions of Olympic football tournaments. Tunisia qualified for the 1978 World Cup, when they became the first African and Arab team to win a World Cup match by defeating Mexico. Tunisia is one of the most competitive African national teams in international football, having won the Africa Cup of Nations once as hosts in 2004.

Hatem Trabelsi is a former Tunisian football player, born in 1977. He participated in the 1998, 2002 and 2006 World Cups and the 2004 and 2006 African Cup of Nations and is one of the most prominent stars of the Tunisian national team ever.

Wahbi Khazri is a Tunisian footballer with French nationality born in 1991. He currently plays as an attacking midfielder or striker for Montpellier FC and the Tunisia national team. He participated in more than 75 international matches with the Tunisian national team scoring 26 goals.

Youssef Msakni is a Tunisian football player, born in 1990 , who played more than 70 international matches with the Tunisian national team. Youssef Meskani is considered one of the most famous Tunisian players of the last decade.

Radi Jaidi is a former Tunisian football player, born in 1975. Radhi Jaidi participated in more than 105 international matches with the Tunisian national team and played professional football in several English clubs during his sporting career.

Aissa Eidouni is a Tunisian football player in 1996, born in 1996 in France. He currently plays for the club Ittihad Berlin, which qualified for the European Champions League, and plays in an attacking midfield position. Issa Aidouni is considered one of the most prominent Tunisian national team players of its new generation, as he performed brilliantly in the 2022 World Cup.

Elias Skhiri is a French-Tunisian footballer, born in 1995. He currently plays in midfield for German club Eintracht Frankfurt. He is considered one of the most prominent players in the Tunisian national team, as he participated in more than 45 international matches for the Carthage Eagles.

Of course, the game of football in Tunisia is played according to international laws, as its local federation operates under the structure of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA), and therefore the laws of local tournaments are the same as international laws, and every amendment in them is respected, for example changing players who The number allowed in each match has increased to five instead of three players only, or the use of VAR technology, which we only apply in important matches due to its high cost, which remains an obstacle to its use in all matches, despite its importance in achieving justice among all and reducing errors arbitration.
