Describe what sports/game is popular most in your country.

One thing that unites the people of India is cricket. Cricket is not just a sport it is a religion. If a cricket match is going on, people are glued to the TV.

Indians need a reason to celebrate something. Cricket is the best reason for that. Blue-clad fans can be seen waving the Indian national flag whether India wins the World Cup or wins a match against Pakistan. People do not hesitate to stay at home instead of going to work on important cricket match days. Some offices give holiday on match day. People are so passionate about cricket.

There is no greater happiness for the Indian fans than if the Indian team wins against Pakistan. India-Pakistan matches are highly anticipated by the fans. It goes beyond competition and is seen as war. Similarly in Pakistan people favor their country's team.

Cricket originally belonged to England as cricket was first played in South East England. Cricket is now the national sport of England and is now spreading around the world and mostly in Australia, India, Pakistan and the West Indies.

The reason hockey is not very popular in India is because Cricket, for all its rules and complications, is a relatively easy game to play compared to hockey – especially for casual players. Cricket is widely followed by population, only 12 or 13 countries play cricket seriously including our country india.
