Do you agree with the statement "Communication skill is the power"?

Yeah, I do agree with this statement. For anyone to be successful in life, businesses or career, he or she must have effective communication skills. Communication today is very important both in business and in our private lives. It helps us to understand people and situations better. Developing strong communication skill is very essential when it comes to building a successful career. With strong communication skills, we can be able to improve at our different workplaces.

Some of the communication skills includes; Listening, Straight talking, Non- verbal communication, Emotion control, Literacy, Stress management, etc. With these strong communication skills, you can clearly impact and provide vital information in your business, make decisions, teamwork, successful goals in the business, values and achievements.

Can you provide an example of situation where "Communication skill is the power"?

At every crucial situation,communication skills are required. I have had an experience of where my effective communication skills was needed. The story goes like this. As you all know, am into fashion designing, and I so much love everything about fashion. Last year at my shop, during the festive season, we were highlighted on how to cut a halter neck jump suit. The teaching wasn't explained in details, she just brief it. So, after like 3 weeks, she called us and told us to explain the halter neck she highlighted to us recently and we should make use of our brain and skills to achieve it.

Everywhere remained silent, because no one was able to answer it. I stood up, went to the table, using my strategic thinking and problem solving skills to achieve it and it was solved. I was able to use my listening and literacy communication skills to explain to them in details. Everyone was surprised and they didn't expected it from me. I was appreciated and gifted.

Some historical examples where "Communication skill is the power" led to significant change?

From history, one of the historical example where communication skill is the power led to significant change was the communication that advised Nigeria and the world to put on the face mask. Wearing of face mask became so powerful and important to everyone across the world during the COVID-19 period that people communicated seriously to protect themselves. The effectiveness of the communication to reach to diverse groups of people in Nigeria with the public health measures was very significant to the Nigerians and helped to stop the spread of the COVID- 19 virus.

How can one improve their communication skills ?

There are best ways in improving our communication skills. Some them includes;

• Keep your audience in mind and engaged them in your communication and interests.
• Consider the best method to get your message delivered.
• Read your non- verbal cues which includes; yawns, fidgeting, looking around the room, etc.
• Leverage face to face communication when possible.
• Minimize distractions by leaving unnecessary electronic devices out of the space.
• Recap important details.
• Ask for feedback. This means that you need to ask for a powerful technique making sure that your audience are understanding and grasping what you're saying.
• With all these mentioned above, am sure these ways makes your audience think about nothing else other than the information you're trying to convey.
