Steemit Engagement Challenge / SEC-S19 / W5 | " Why is gender equality necessary? "
Greetings friends of Steemit and Hindwhale Community
In a urban settings for an educated employed couple gender inequality is quite evident in India. If one sees memes and reels of couples in social media it is more clearly visible how masculinity is dominated by feminist hehe. It was all for the betterment of conjugal life.
In my case and whom ever I know everyone is obedient hubby and don't have the freedom of speech. The less you talk more you are happy haha. Actually this situation have arrived due to results of karma of our previous generations when the scenarios were other way round. The family's last words were spoken by male members.
There is a cyclic of dominance by gender alternately.
Among our siblings my sister was eldest and her wishes and desires were top most priority. She was considered as princess by both the parents. It was probably for two reasons. As she was the first issue and after all she will leave the family at an early age that was the reason behind her importance.
In fact I also feel voids when she left home after marriage. If it's so for me you can imagine how shocking it was for our father.
Actually that is the main bone of contention in case of gender inequality. A girl child is a big matter of tension for father after a certain age till she is happily married and lead a decent conjugal life at that time of society. So the girl child is never considered as equal to boy child from the point of view of inheritance and polymorphism (but in today's scenarios female child try to look after their parents out of the way as much as possible and I know some of parents stay with their daughter in spite of having son. In turn son is also looking after his parent inlaws. So this is a vicious cycle).
Having said so the parents believe their propagation of future generations are only possible by boy child which is a traditional myth. In fact a female can only give birth of a child but not the male.
This issue of daughter's leaving home after marriage was first addressed by Banabhatta who was main poet of Empire Harshbardhan (606-647 AD). Bana was most literally person and poet after Kalidas. Bana advocated of daughter's stay back at parents place after marriage with husband. In that case also getting deserving grooms (self-respect issue) may be a practical difficulty. That's why most modern respectable couples stay in same city with both parents seperately if possible in same housing complex.
In fact Arthur Berriedale Keith in his translation of The Yajur Veda (Taittiriya Sanhita) also explained gender equality in ancient literature of India.
In the ancient India there was complete freedom of speech (highest freedom) for women as mentioned in case of Kunti, Droupadi, Sita in epics.
I will request all to read the story of Bakasura and Brahmin family. In the night before family's turn to present the meals to Bakasura the conversation of Brahmin and his wife clearly explain the respect of male to female members of society in ancient India.
Before I conclude I would like to invite three fellow Steemians to participate in the contest. @crismenia @joymm @eveetim.
Thank you for reading my post.
hI, @impersonal greetings!!
It's interesting to hear about your personal experiences and observations regarding the dominance of masculinity and the impact it has on conjugal life. The cyclic nature of gender dominance that you mentioned is definitely a thought-provoking concept.
You are right , some female children are taking care of their parents and breaking traditional norms by staying with them even after marriage. This shows a positive shift towards equality and respect for both genders.
The historical perspective you provided, especially Banabhatta's advocacy for daughters staying back at their parents' place after marriage, sheds light on the evolution of societal norms over time. It's important to continue challenging these traditional beliefs and promoting equal opportunities for all individuals regardless of gender.
Thank you you participating the contest and adding to the discussion around gender equality. I wish you win the contest.
Thank you so much.

I like your take on the topic besides your examples but being from the corporate world my views revolve around the professionals and what we need to do in this direction. I appreciate your viewpoints and quotations.
Thank you sir for visiting my post and appreciation.
Gender equality was practically explained in your article, you pictured the scenario where your sister was preferred because she was the eldest and that she would leave the house for marriage soon. You shared how much you felt void when she left. Indeed preference for a particular gender should be frowned at. I enjoyed your article and success in the challenge.
Thank you for visiting my post and understanding.
greetings friend
indeed, in India gender inequality is still real even though educated couples are trying to achieve equality. Social media shows change, but the dominance of masculinity is often felt. Husbands are often submissive and lack freedom of speech, a reflection of the cycle of gender domination that alternates from generation to generation. Daughters, although important, are often considered less equal than sons, especially when it comes to inheritance and family responsibilities. The myth that inheritance can only be continued through sons continues, even though social changes are now affecting lifestyle patterns, such as living close to parents.
Good luck on this challenge

You're welcome
Wanita sebenarnya memiliki peranan penting dalam sebuah keluarga, contohnya seorang ibu. Tanpa kehadiran seorang ibu seperti kehilangan cahaya.
