Day 6 Theni to Madurai : Full adventure | Enjoying fresh fruits | Worlds beautiful Temple visit and Shopping
Hello friends! Today, I’m back with a new post about the fifth day of my trip. So, as you know, our fourth day had wrapped up after dinner. We decided to get some rest since we needed to leave early the next day for Madurai. We checked out of our resort at 9 AM and settled the remaining bill for dinner and breakfast before leaving.
Now, let’s head towards Madurai and share what’s special there! Feel free to share your experiences too!
Went for purchasing Mund in Munnar
On this day, we had a few spots left to visit, and our driver was only going to drop us off from Munnar to Theni, which was just 70 km away from Madurai.
Munnar to Theni
We had planned to see the Meenakshi Temple in Madurai, so we checked out of Munnar without any delay. As we drove, we took in the beautiful scenery and covered all the spots along the way. The road to Theni was stunning, passing through breathtaking valleys that felt like a heavenly path, with our car gliding smoothly through the clouds.
Finding a perfect saree for my Mom
We stopped at a few places and captured some amazing photos that made our trip memorable. On our way back, I noticed some small shopkeepers selling bright red carrots and corn by the roadside. We stopped the car and bought a bundle of carrots for just 40 rupees, taking a few pictures before getting back in the vehicle. As we continued, we stumbled upon a point where a waterfall was visible right by the road. We parked the car again to take photos and then set off for Theni.
Enjoying Fresh carrot
My friend Vinod and I were feeling a bit hungry, so we bought banana chips and tea. The others weren’t interested, so we didn’t push them. After enjoying our tea, we got back in the car with the banana chips and Kerala bananas.
Church,Idukki Udumbanchula
After a while, I opened the packet of chips and began to enjoy them along with the beautiful views. Just then, our friends asked us to pass the chips, and we happily shared. As we continued on our way, I spotted a church that looked incredibly beautiful from the outside. Without any hesitation, we stopped the car and headed towards the church, which was even more stunning up close than it appeared from a distance.
Some best clicks
I found a great spot near the church and called my friend to take my picture. But before I knew it, everyone started liking that spot for taking pictures. It got to the point where I had fewer photos, and those people got busy taking their own.
Oh God, these girls take so many pictures, who knows why! Hahaha!
We left from there and reached Thenni, where we took a bus to Madurai. From Thenni, buses to Madurai are available every 10 minutes, and for a mere ₹70 ticket, you can reach Madurai.
We boarded the bus, and all of us sat together. During the roughly 2-hour journey, we transferred all our photos to each other's phones, and before we knew it, we had arrived in Madurai. As soon as we reached, it started raining heavily.
Mini Waterfall 🤣
We were getting late because the temple's closing time is 9:30 PM, and the rain was causing further delays. We had planned to only visit the temple and then catch the 11:30 PM train to Kanyakumari after the temple visit, but due to the rain, our main concern was just reaching the temple on time.
We went to the station, deposited our luggage in the cloakroom, and went to the waiting room to gather our wet clothes and put on the mundu, which was the attire required for entering the temple. We hurriedly managed everything and put on raincoats as we walked about 1 km towards the temple since it was almost impossible to get a cab in such heavy rain, with knee-deep water all around. We set out towards the Shri Meenakshi Sundreshwar Temple.
Beautiful Minakshi Temple , Madurai
As soon as we reached the temple, we saw that all belongings like mobiles, wallets, etc., had to be deposited. We left all our valuable items in the cloakroom and entered the temple. The temple was even more beautiful inside than it appeared from the outside. It felt as if every corner of my mind was being flooded with such positive energy that my entire being was awakened.
The sculptures and statues inside the temple were incredibly beautiful, providing a truly wonderful experience. We had a sacred glimpse of Shri Meenakshi and then of Lord Shiva, which was a breathtaking sight. This temple, which is based on Dravidian architecture, is one of the most beautiful temples in our country. In fact, it has been awarded the title of one of the most beautiful temples not just in the country but across the world.
At Madurai Railway Station 🚉
After spending around 1 hour and 30 minutes in the temple, enjoying the beautiful surroundings and meditating, we received prasad and then exited the temple. We all looked for a good restaurant for dinner, but due to the rain, most of the restaurants were closed. However, with the help of Google, I found a popular restaurant that was close to our temple location. We reached there and ordered the special dosa and more.
The dosa there was extremely delicious, and the price was very reasonable. We ate to our hearts' content and reached the station by 10 PM. We collected our belongings from the cloakroom and then went to platform number 1. There, we saw a body massage machine, and an idea clicked in my mind, so we got a massage. All the exhaustion vanished after just 20 minutes on that machine. We were all feeling relaxed.
Then, we went to platform 4 and started waiting for the train. When the train arrived, we went to our respective berths and placed our luggage under the seats.
Thus, the entire day became memorable, and we managed to complete 70% of our trip efficiently. See you in my Day 6 diary. Until then, I offer my regards to all of you.
