Moon orchid and mirror

Last week when I was a in a hotel, I saw a beautiful moon orchid. It was in front of a mirror. So whoever use the mirror will see the flower.

This moon orchid has the scientific name Phalaenopsis amabilis. It is widespread in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia to northern Australia. This plant ussualy attaches to the trunk or branches of trees in the forest (epiphytes).

This plant is often used as an ornamental plant in variousplaces like offices, homes, restaurants, hotels and tourist attractions.

Usually moon orchids are planted with coconut peat as the media media. But we can also grow it in pot using soil or compost.

This wonder flower is one of three Indonesia's national flower, along with jasmine and rafflesia arnoldi.
