Hoping to see your entries in the future.
Last week I mentioned I saw some street art along the walls of the headquarters of the Philippine National Police (PNP) along San Pedro Street Extension here in Davao City, Philippines. The PNP is one of the military forces employed in maintaining the peace and order of the country. Aside from criminals, drug addicts, kidnappers and violent gang members, the PNP is also tasked to help in the insurgency problem in the provinces. The insurgency problem is caused by a group that calls itself the Communist Party of the Philippines - New People's Army (CPP-NPA) whose objective is to overthrow the government and establish a communist rule in the country. This group has been the cause of so much death and destruction among the people in the country as they are armed and fight back against the military forces of the country.
So it is not a surprise that one of the street arts painted on the wall is about the fight between the PNP and the insurgents (CPP-NPA). See photos below.
In the photos above, the police are the ones in blue uniform, depicted with wings to perhaps symbolize that they act as angels as they help the people who are caught in the cross-fire in their battle with the rebels. The wings can also symbolize that the police are the angels of death of the CPP-NPA so it is better for them to surrender their arms so peace can prevail.
The photo below is the full picture of the mural. The words printed under the painting can be translated as follows:
CPP-NPA Stop It! That is enough! Too much violence for the last 51 years.
More of this wall in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, I hope you liked this. Good luck to all the participants. God bless you all.
