What do we know about assistive technology?
Hello friends of Hope ..!
We follow the trail of the best technological innovations at the service of humanity, today I present in my post the case of "assistive technology".
Assistive technology refers to technological devices designed to provide critical support to people with special abilities or reduced mobility (disabled)
It is gratifying to know that technology does not discriminate and is not segmented towards just one type of “consumer public”, it is gratifying to know that people with special abilities and reduced mobility can have access to a range of technology products that can help them listen, see, communicate and move, among other things, either in their homes or in their workplaces with total freedom.
In fact some of these products have been on the market for many years, such is the example of the Cochlear implant and prostheses for extremities, but today, with so many advances it is the time to talk about robotic or smart devices.
What will the future of assistive technology look like?
We must now think about the fundamental needs of people with reduced mobility, such as smart prostheses, neuroprostheses, Smart walking stick and any number of assistance tools that will facilitate them users mobility and movement.
It will also be possible to use audio devices other than the well-known Cochlear implants, because not all hearing needs are the same, some may even be controlled with the mind depending on the physical environment .
But one of the most amazing cases is the glasses for blind people, they do not return vision as such, but they do "translate" the environment to guarantee a safe movement for the user; In other words, they recreate the environment for the user through a translation that is sent to their Smartphone and they listen to them with their hearing aids, this is the case with Eyesynth. There is also the case of lenses for blind people (which retain a small percentage of vision) that actually "return vision" by means of intelligent cameras inserted in the lens so that the captured images are transmitted between the user's eyes in real time. known as eSight.
You can believe that the era of digital health is approaching ..!
We still need to think about solutions for other industries such as assisted feeding, smart suits and diapers, smart touch braille technology, AI wheelchairs, robotic patient care assistants and users with special needs. I would like to see this become a reality immediately, and personally I think it should be called “inclusion technology” because in this way, with the use of this variety of devices, all people could access a large number of opportunities for social and work inclusion , services and even recreation, with fewer limitations.
The fact that research is concentrating efforts on improving the living conditions of people with special abilities and reduced mobility, incorporating great improvements to the devices we already know and developing new devices With its applications, it is so encouraging that it makes me think that this will be a technology sector with very wide acceptance by investors who support these developments and by users who will benefit, it would only be necessary to see what progress is in terms of regulations and certifications in the clinical area on the use of these devices and their effects on individuals.
These kinds of technological advances make me love engineering at the service of communities even more.

Hello dear friend @ tocho2 good afternoon
It is really admirable how technology is advancing in people's improvement post.
To be honest, I was unaware of the assistance glasses for the blind, I really appreciate that you let us know
I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid afternoon and a happy start to the week
Thanks a lot for commenting @jlufer, and thanks too for you kind words..!
See you soon
