The Little Help You Can Render

in Project HOPE3 years ago

Sometimes, it is not the volume of help you offer that makes it potent but the necessity of it. There are times where even the slightest help that you can offer to someone could be the only hope they have to survive. You have to be sensitive enough not to deny them help when it matters most in their lives. You may not know what the person has been passing though and your little help can restore their hope in humanity.

Something happened a few months back and I understood that size of help does not equal to relevance but the promptness of the help does. I went into a shop to get a few things and as I was rounding up my shopping, a woman looking very thirsty walked into the shop to buy sachet water. The woman had 1k Naira note but the sachet water costs 10 Naira.

The shop owner quickly replied "madam there is no change, I can't sell" without considering the woman. The woman stood there with her money but desperately in need of water. I reached out to my pocket and grabbed 10 Naira and gave to the shop owner and the water was given to the woman. After the woman drank the water, the way she thanked me sent cold chills down my spine. To me, I was wondering if it is because of the small water that she is thanking me this way?

I quickly realized that at that point, the water was the only thing that mattered to her and denying her that would break her. You see, a relevant help may be the smallest one that you did in the time of desperate need. You will be surprised how a little help could create a massive impact in the life of someone. Believe me, if you have ever been in a state that you desperately need help, you will understand what desperation means.

The world is already full of dark times and full of so much cruelty that your small acts of kindness can lift someone up, restore his hopes, and serve as a light to him. In a very dark room in a dark night, the smallest light you introduce will make a huge impact. In the same way, in this dark times, your help could be the only hope that someone has.

It is worthy to note that no help is irrelevant nor ordinary. A bottle of champagne may be very costly but it does not hold as much value as a glass of water to someone that is very thirsty. In each day of your life, resolve within you to render at least one help to someone. I ask you, is their a greater joy than causing someone to be happy because of your help towards them? This is exactly the thing that humanity demands from us.

If at the end of the day and you cannot point to a particular help that you rendered to someone, then you have not fulfilled the demands of humanity for that day. What matters is not how much resources or wealth that you have but how you have used it to help humanity.

Peace on y'all

Greetings @samminator, how wonderful it would be if we all started our days with the intention of helping the most needy, the most unprotected, the help does not have to be economic, it would be enough with a word of encouragement, give some food, devote some time, among other aspects that we can consider that awakens our spirit of cheerful giver.

Undoubtedly if we all did it we would be facing a world more committed and rooted to much stronger values. Great contribution my friend

That's right. If we do our own part by helping others, the world would have been a much better place for everyone.
Nice comment buddy

Of a true you are right. Little help can go along way into being a major help. This post remind me of my uncle, do you know that I speak of them great always not because they gave me millions but because when I needed them, they showed up and render the help. The help was little to them but to me it mean alot.

This is so great to know that you have supporting uncle that helps out in need. Nice one.

Thanks for the nice comment buddy

hello @samminator,
I personally believe that timely help is better than trying to help people who do not want to be helped, in my personal life on many occasions friends that I had not spoken to for many years appeared out of nowhere and helped me in difficult times, that is why I am very grateful to all of them, life is not easy so if we have the opportunity to make things easier for a friend who is in trouble it will always be the best decision we can take.

Nicely said, we all have a responsibility to do good and we should make the decision to help people in need. Thanks a lot buddy

Wonderful reflection, we do not usually put ourselves in the place of others, because we consider that everyone has their own problems, but... have we ever thought that we would be in similar situations?
thanks for sharing, congratulations

Wow! This has so much insight. If we try to put ourselves in other people's shoes, we won't deny them help.
Thanks buddy

Hello @samminator!
Very inspiring your post, especially as I start my day. You are absolutely right to comment that no matter the size of the aid, the important thing is to help, and not only financially there are other ways to express our support and collaboration, especially in these moments where we have seen that we can all help each other to overcome the difficulties. Greetings!

To be honest, this is one of the most beautiful blogs I've ever read, and my favorite line was when you said:

"The world is already full of dark times and full of so much cruelty that your small acts of kindness can lift someone up, restore his hopes, and serve as a light to him."

This sentence encapsulates the world we live in; there are many negative aspects to it, so I appreciate your offering your assistance to a strange woman who may have needed the water more than anything else. We may not realize how much our assistance makes a difference, but I believe that if everyone begins to help without hesitation, we will build a stronger community with more responsible people.

Nice share friend!

Thanks a lot for the nice comment buddy, I am really honoured by your kind words and your continued support on my blog.
Cheers buddy

Hi @samminator!
Undoubtedly, it is important to be in solidarity without expecting anything in return, the help that we provide today we will surely need it also, sometime tomorrow, in any other aspect of our lives. Thank you for sharing this thoughtful and human-quality content.

Exactly, when rendering help, we should do it in clear conscience without expecting the person to repay us back.
Thanks buddy

You are right when you met someone pressing need at that point no matter how little it might look to you, you have done a great favour to the person and the person will always be happy that you render a help to him or her

That's correct. The size of the help is not what makes it potent but your readiness to render the help in time of need. Thanks a lot Jenny

A small gesture makes a difference. :)

I totally agree with you on this. Thanks buddy

Greetings @samminator, On many occasions we expect people to ask us for help to assess whether we can do them, helping not only involves the monetary, can be words, share a moment, provide support in something, as they say in my country "do good and not look at who".
Excellent publication that you share with us, thank you very much.
