STEEM vs HIVE prices. An interesting turnaround this week

in Project HOPE4 years ago

Looks like things took a turn this week:

As you can see above, after the Hive dump happened after BITTREX opening the withdraws and deposits, looks like HIVE price is still dropping.

STEEM, on the other hand, on the last 24 hours, made a big spike, recovering 15% of it's price, since HIVE launch.

The only relevant thing i found on the last hours was this announcement by Steemit Inc:

https://steempeak.com/steemit/@steemitblog/announcing-100-days-of-steem

Basically, it says for the next 100 days, something will be announced:

Under the 100 Days of Steem project we will be making a new announcement every single day for the next one hundred days.

That will be... interesting. That could mean 100 new features coming, or 100 gibberish announcements only aiming to pump the price further.

Another "wait and see" moment. This can go really good or rally bad for STEEM.

On the HIVE side though... not much is happening.

All dapps developers and witnessess posting their updates, and still around steemit being kind of butthurt about what happened.

(If any of you doing that is reading this, please: Just move on, and go make HIVE better than STEEM)

SBD vs HBD

Not much happening here, but both Tokens looks kind of stable.

Volume

I want to talk a bit about volume too, because this is another really interesting piece of data. Here is the daily volume of both tokens on BITTREX:

HIVE

STEEM

What is interestin to see here is that the average volume of STEEM is around double the volume of HIVE.

Again, it is still too early to predict how anything will turn out, but keeping an eye how this data will evolve might be an interesting indicator of the future of each platform.

See you around.

Sort:

I hope Steem and Hive will go different ways and turn into two different platforms. It will for sure take time, and there are wounds on both sides. But, just like in a divorce, I hope both parts will live on an be able to live healthy lives without always blaming the other, nor criticize the other.

I hope with the Steem softfork coming up and with the 100 updates, that the Steemit platform will take some great steps in their own independent direction, and I will follow it curiously! :)

I think that this is what most of us are expecting.

But it seems that both parties are more interested in keep poking each other.

Yes. I would even say that some people (previous Steem users) are mocking Steem.
I already wrote multiple times that this blockchain is doomed by its own users, but looks like this statement is getting more and more actual from multiple aspects.

I have not heard anyone blaming the Steem blockchain (about the fork) so far. People are blaming Justin Sun and his actions. Although some people say that Steem is dead, some of them are even happy about it.

But Steem is far from dead. The Steem blockchain is not just/only Steemit. Steemit is just/only a dApp on the Steem blockchain. There are many other dApps on the Steem blockchain. Steem Monsters/Splinterlands for example. Nowadays that is my favorite game. Nowadays I regularly invest both Steem and Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) in it. I regularly buy cards with them.

But my other two favorite dApps, dPoll and eSteem are migrated from the Steem blockchain to the Hive blockchain.

I am currently using both of the blockchains, and I currently think that both of the blockchains has every chance to be successful, but it is somehow sad that the Hive blockchain had to be forked from the Steem blockchain, and thus splitting the Steem community in half.

It will be very interesting to see the evolution. :)

:P

That's great comparison of steem and hive. But, I'm good at calculating steem:hive ratio . thanks for this job done

I really do not like been swift to making decisions, i will still like to watch how things unfold between the two platforms.

Probably the Hive blockchain should not have been forked from the Steem blockchain, and my two favorite dApps, dPoll and eSteem should not have migrated from the Steem blockchain to the Hive blockchain. This fork is just/only splitting the Steem community in half. Some people said that Steem is dead, and some of them are even happy about it. This situation is chaotic.
