Understanding Hash And Cryptography - Part 2
Hello everyone, hope you all are doing good? I'm back with the Part 2 of this amazing series, Understanding Hash And Cryptography. If you haven't read the Part 1, I strongly suggest you that by clicking here. In today's article we would be knowing how to verify the last block and the last transaction hash on Etherscan.
![istock-808157766-1.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/640x0/https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/menoski/23tbJnDaJWsAKMGtApEaCuXEmkibPDSWxV1U3DnRaBwooLJwYPm9YXDVpYmfyDzpaCg7e.jpg)
To be able to verify the hash of the last block and the hash of the last transaction, you need to first click on the Etherscan website. As soon as you land on the page, you will notice the page is divided into two sections. By left hand side of your screen, you will have the hash of the latest block and by the right hand side of your screen, you will have the hash of the latest transactions.
![1.1.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/640x0/https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/menoski/23tmmf7RbaxAjcjXKGQF51kNtjKeUL4B9HYRDKs6gitpZZJDR6gc14hb8pPgwRuR2bTBS.jpg)
Click on the first block you see. For my case, it is block 12781747 which is also known as the block height.
![2.2.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/640x0/https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/menoski/23tHb6kpjALDSbXMLY2n4iqtmmpxtg4p4M6RrjwMVp3CpkqWr1u2jgTDAbEw5oHTgWRRn.jpg)
Now we can easily verify and know what the last block hash is. For my case, the block hash is;
0x62306e169fcd901cbcdf8fd18fb052ae5e5c9069d43d17b4409e3d34b020a1d3.
![3.1.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/640x0/https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/menoski/23tcNRVykpvnAB7aZR72RCd5ZvKbST8hvMXi9L5jbFJvXDnNWMVt4zVXSuBsFkkRLDXS3.jpg)
To verify the hash of the last transaction, you will have to click on the first transaction you see on the transaction section. For my case, the transaction hash is;
0xe75a3b090daf87b19dbde8621ca06b6c4e10751c416ca5f5baf1e3853387203f
![4.1.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/640x0/https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/menoski/23tHbg12EJAorYEAAd8x5GKc2s1yWongyiTa2T8SyMFAtNiXnen64GJ2Aa82CbEYi2qB7.jpg)
When the page opens, will be able to truly verify that it is the last transaction hash, as the block height will be same with the last block hash. If you can recall my last block hash is 12781747 and on the transaction details, you will notice that the block is 12781747.

The transaction is now verified.
