The rise of programmers in the digital age: A profession in high demand | Personal Opinion

in Project HOPE3 months ago

Hello friends of Project HOPE, good start to the week for everyone. I've been reviewing some interesting things regarding the needs of professionals in this new technological era, and the greatest requirements are actively leaning towards programmers.

And it is no wonder, considering that we are in a highly technological and digitalized world, in which mastering the programming language tends to be a kind of necessity for all companies. Programming skills not only allow you to improve processes and automate tasks, but also drive innovation, allowing companies to remain competitive in a constantly evolving market.

Lately I have been seeing how artificial intelligence technology is being used in all areas. For example, in medicine, use has expanded after the COVID-19 pandemic, and a very interesting use case is data or image analysis, which speeds up diagnoses and treatments. Artificial intelligence not only improves the accuracy of results, but also helps medical professionals spend more time with their patients by reducing the time needed for certain routine procedures.

And not to mention production systems, in which thousands of workers are being replaced by machines. These machines, which in many cases are highly specialized robots, require programmers for their correct operation and maintenance. In this aspect, it is clear that technology has reconfigured the labor landscape, creating a growing demand for professionals who master these areas, especially those focused on technological development.

Salaries are good in general. According to what I have been able to see, in Colombia they can earn up to 3 or 4 minimum wages, which is not bad, and the demand is quite high. However, the detail is that there are not as many programmers as required. I assume that, at some point, when there are more professionals due to increased training, these salaries will go down. But until that happens, heading through this area seems to be a very good choice.

I don't know what you think, but from what I perceive, digital is very present in our lives, and it will become much more so. Technology is not only advancing rapidly, but it is becoming an integral part of our daily activities. Don't you think so?

We are the hope!

Programming is an interesting adventure no one will regret taking. I always smile when i see or hear people saying that AI will take over developers job. Because the opposite is rather the case

Hi @josevas217

I often wonder what is the future of programmers. Especially since chatgbt has been presented to public.

And it is hard not to imagine that there wont be much future for them. Amount of jobs will not double or tripple and all those jobs will be easier and quicker to do. Probably we will witness apocalipse of junior programmers and all we will be left with is senior programmers who will be using AI to build blocks of code.

I surely would not recommend to anyone to study programming. Those few years may be simply wasted as it is hard to imagine scenario different from the one I just described.

Cheers, Piotr
