Lithium as an important raw material for the future
Greetings friends of Project Hope
I hope you are doing well this weekend, and that you are having the opportunity to recharge your batteries for this week that is about to begin.
Today I want to share my opinion regarding a current reality that could drastically change what will dominate in the future in the area of electric batteries, something that, considering the trend towards the use of clean energy, may have great importance in the future, and whoever masters progress in this sector will undoubtedly have a competitive advantage in the medium and long term.
The use of Lithium is what predominates now for the manufacture of these, this has meant that Lithium as a mineral and raw material is rising in price and a large growth is expected during the coming decades.
This is where some countries come into play, those that have the largest proven reserves of this mineral. In this case, in South America Chile, Argentina and Bolivia are the countries with the greatest amount of this material.
Which implies that in the future we could have countries with large incomes in this sector, on this side of the world. I hope politicians can take advantage of this abundance properly.
However, there is a detail, and that is that China is investing great fortunes in the development of battery technology that works with Sodium, which is a more abundant and logically cheaper material as well as more environmentally friendly.
What is very true is that only time will tell what will dominate in this area, for now lithium will be the main protagonist at the raw material level as we move towards a world less dependent on hydrocarbons. Although to tell the truth, I think it will be a process of decades, if this transition is completed once and for all.
