Let's talk about Telemedicine - Impact of technology on medical practice
We live in a totally technological world, in which practically anyone has a mobile phone at hand, which is essentially a small computer with which you can -literally- communicate with everyone. There has been a major breakthrough in this area in recent decades. We have been able to see that in the field of health the advances that integrate artificial intelligence are countless and to a large extent collaborate with medical personnel in their work.
Robotics with artificial intelligence in the area of medical and surgical sciences has also taken giant steps towards enabling a doctor to perform surgery despite being at a great distance from the patient.
These are important achievements that must be highlighted, however, not all situations that arise deserve great progress in their resolution, there are some eventualities that are part of everyday life and that despite being uncomplicated their resolution does not always have the answer to those simple things.
Faced with this reality, a number of applications have emerged in order to be able to advise people, and have professional help to resolve the situation that afflicts them. I emphasize that it is not the best, that it will not overcome the relationship between a doctor and patient, but the truth is that you can not always have the professional there at all times and this is when some applications have had a place and have been able to solve this problem.
In particular I have had the experience of knowing two platforms that work in different countries that provide different types of medical advice that people who need it, and can easily access, these range from video calls to answers to simple questions.
Many people wonder:
But how can I be sure that I'll be served by really prepared people in this area?
The truth is that the people I have met, in order to be among the professionals that I will work with, one must go through a series of processes as a professional to validate one's professionalization in a given area. My wife and I are Venezuelan doctors, currently living in the capital of Colombia, Bogotá.
She chose to enter one of these projects, it's called 1doc3 in case you want to take a look, (I clarify that it's in Spanish, but luckily there are translators). In order to get in, she had to take a series of video tests in which the project coordinator, who is also a doctor, asked her a series of questions that only a doctor could answer, related to anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, physiopathology, among other things, in order to test her knowledge. But before that, a verification of the university documentation was carried out. That was a very complex process, due to the situation in our home country, Venezuela, however it was done.
He has already been able to receive his first payment for consultations made via the web, and from the comfort of his home. This seems to me a great technological achievement. Although the truth does not surpass the experience face to face with the patient. this 1doc3 platform works also in Mexico, and in other South American countries.
We just met another one called Midoctor, which does allow medical guidance by video call, see what happens next. With our incursion in this technology that allows in a certain way to exercise the medical career and to be present more easily to collaborate in the resolution of the problems that appear in many cases.
I also know someone who is working through a platform for psychological consultations called IFEEL founded in Spain. These are options. These are many of the things that technology is allowing to be generated, and I think it's just great.
Thank you very much for reading me.
What do you think about this option of consultations and advice via telephone or video calls?
I'd like your opinion.
I invite you to visit Project.hope and learn about the benefits of this project for all those interested in growing while helping others to grow.
I think remote consultation is very helpful in some areas. I have family in parts of Africa who are using this technology to speak to patients in remote villages. Some of these areas are very difficult to gain access to with roads blocked for parts of the year so this type of technology is brilliant.
There have also been advances in this in Europe where there are now many services available like virtual GP (General practitioner) services in the UK.
I think the benefits are huge and hopefully an area that will develop further.
Thanks for sharing @josevas217. Upvoted.
Thank you for your support @awah
It is good to know that these services continue to evolve in other parts of the world.
Africa seems to be a good place to benefit from this technology. It certainly does.

I recently learnt of Xenobots and my! I feel telemedicine will get better with such amazing way to tackle the complexities that comes with health. I believe medicine and technology are intertwined and we can't ignore the usefulness of the technology I'm medicine
Hello @jossediccus
That's good. I didn't know you were a doctor.
I don't think there are many of us on this platform.
Thank you for your comment.
Well, they are certainly very good methods. Recently I have seen the uses that are given in discovery, a couple of episodes in the emergency room where a specialist is consulted who is in another side of the country via teleconference, and they solve the emergency procedure in a short time. It is an advance that makes things easier and helps, for example, those older people who cannot move from their cases, or who have obesity problems and cannot attend a consultation. It is a good method.
If @reinaldoverdu
I particularly used many times to consult some specialists when they were not at the moment and I needed to solve some urgency. They are tools, and you have to use them.
@josevas217 this post very Interesting the way technology is going now it's the really deal
Thanks for the comment @henry-9ja
Without a doubt, technology opens many doors at the economic level, especially for those who have the money to do so.
That's a great idea, the future. I suppose it can be very important in times of epidemic. For example, many people will hide their coronavirus infection. Because they are afraid they will be mistreated in state hospitals. Here in Europe, they tell you if you have symptoms, you shouldn't go to the doctor. Better stay home for 2 weeks. But what if you have another problem? Online doctors could help.
With the new 5G mobile network, pictures can be so clear and sharp like the reality.
Yes, you're quite right about that @deathcross
can be a good tool in those cases you bring up.
This already goes hand in hand with the creation of a team to deal with these cases, I think it even works to minimize the risk of exposure of health personnel.

Your spam is really fucking annoying. You spam everybody, we ask you to stop, you refuse to, We downvote you, you downvote us. This is not what Jesus would do with his Steem account.
Indeed. Very annoying.
I fully agree with you @alexvanaken
I'm not sure how to stop this awful behaviour of this community.
