Excellence Is A Habit

There's a popular quote by Aristotle, "Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what are repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."

The truth is that humans are what we repeatedly do, and the more you do a thing - the more it becomes a part of you. Forming good habits have always been a way to overcoming the every day struggle of discipline - because a habit is something you repeatedly do.

A lot of people make the mistake of desiring excellence without putting in long hours of practice, and that's really difficult. The only way that you learn to do, is by doing. It's the more you do a thing, that you gain mastery of it.

But so many people fold their arms, and think that excellence can be achieved that way. Action is what leads to excellence. When you look at the lives of great people, you'll see that they take actions more quickly than the average person does.

For this reason, Aristotle was right; when he said that - excellence isn't an act. Because when someone performs a task so perfectly, it seems like such an amazing thing at the moment; but people forget that it took a habit and long practice for them to reach that level of performance.

Well written. Excellence comes as a result of putting in the desired work and making it a habit. Excellence is earned, not gifted.
