Team Uganda contest. How the lockdown has affected my life. @chicy.

Greetings to you all.

I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason. Life is all about ups and downs and it's only those who can stick out their heads that find an opportunity where it's seemingly lost. Everything in the world has it's pros and cons to it.

The lockdown has brought about lots of changes in my life that I really never imagined. I am a student at Makerere University Business school and I am in my final Year. On the 8th of June 2021, we were just about to sit for our final exams when our principal closed school because of the raising cases that the school had reported. Personally I was thankful because I wasn't ready for one of my course units or modules like others would say. Majority of my friends were not happy about it but we still had to follow what was directed.

I had it in mind that since school was closed I would opt to carry on with my internship. I remember it was a Sunday when I was just talking to my mother with enthusiasm and excitement about the plans I had especially when it came to doing my internship. The next day I got a call from my internship placement and I was told that I couldn't do my internship because of the pandemic. I felt my heart drop suddenly got cold feet. I could feel myself shrinking. Puzzled, I looked out of my bedroom window and a cool breeze swept and wiped my face. I could hear my intuition talking to me telling me "this is not the end of the world, you are greater than what you think." I quickly snapped out of the hurting mood and started smiling. It felt like God was talking to me.

A few days later Uganda was under total lockdown. Rampant deaths, a bunch of businesses have been shut down, public and private transportation was closed, no crossing from one district to another, curfew, increasing number in infection at a point it was hard for me to even trust my family which had never happened before. Almost every morning we wake up to sad news either someone is in the hospital fighting for their life or death of a relative. I occasionally see my dad attending zoom calls and they are not business calls but funeral service and this saddens me.

Despite all that, I decided to look ahead and adhere to all the changes that were happening. This is an opportunity for me to write on steemit and I am absolutely grateful to have met @yohan20n who introduced me to this platform which keeps me busy.

Oh yes, I am not that kind of lackadaisical girl. I live life and I don't let life live me.
Not only do I write but I have also taken up a new hobby and that is learning two foreign languages German and French. I know that I will need it later in life because I am a travel and tourism student. It's vital to know an international language. I am also improving in my hairdressing skills and I am proud of what I will become. Later next week I would like to start knitting.

I also occasionally wash my dog shaggy and currently I got a German shepherd puppy. He is called Toby and he loves following me around the house and most of the time he sleeps in my room although at night he sleeps in the kennel but he suffers from separation and anxiety. I am also yet to start training him. He is only 2 months old and I can't wait for him to grow.

He's sleeping style amuses me so much.

I have been interacting with many people via WhatsApp and I have been told about unit trusts that sounds like an interesting venture to join. I used to have bias on many things of the world but I am open minded and I am learning so much, thanks to the internet.
In my free time I watch documentaries and movies. Today, I landed on a documentary called Dark tourist on Netflix. This has helped me learn about dark tourism and what different people love doing. In a nut shell, I am simply simply enjoying myself cooking ,walking to the market and teach a young man how to ride a bicycle.

I believe that by the end of this lockdown I will be a changed and knowledgeable person. The path to success is rough only those with hard feet can walk.

Thank you
@chicy.

Mon mari parle couramment le français, moi j'apprends, mais j'aime le parler si j'en ai l'occasion.

Très bon article au fait. C'est bon! J'aime votre articulation et votre langage. Et tu es si belle fille !!!! Bon moment.

Thank you so much for appreciating and I am so glad that you read through. French is an absolutely beautiful language and I can't wait to speak it fluently. 🤗🤗🤗

Hi @chicy

I see the lockdown has affected your academics. You are now delayed in accomplishing your degree. Don't worry my dear you will eventually finish up your studies. The situation at hand is temporal. Let's just continue hoping that the lockdown gets lifted soon.

You are a very wise young lady. Learning additional skills like hairdressing. International languages like Germany and French. Continue adding value to yourself. Your future is a bright one when you continue in that direction.

I can feel your passion for dogs. Shaggy is a nice dog, I am glad you trained him and take good care of him. Wow, You now even got a new dog!! That's great! All the best as you train him too.

I think you may also want to deeply venture into a dogs business in future.

Thanks so much for your entry. Keep steeming!!
