Photography Challenge #4 – Pets - Mascotas

Hi, friends who love photography and pets.

Many people like to have pets but that implies a great responsibility and a lot of commitment to the animal's health and wellbeing in general.

Hola amigos amantes de la fotografía y de las mascotas.

A muchas personas nos gusta tener mascotas pero eso implica una gran responsabilidad y mucho compromiso con la salud del animal y con su bienestar en general.

DOGS - PERROS

In my house there have always been dogs because there's a garden and a playground where they can spend the day. Normally, they sleep inside the house so they can feel at home.

The entrance photograph is "Minerva". That dog is a beauty and a very noble animal. The only thing against it is that its legs destroy my mom's garden and that gets us all in trouble.

En mi casa siempre ha habido perros porque hay un jardín y un patio donde pueden pasar el día. Normalmente, duermen dentro de la casa para que sientan un hogar.

La fotografía de entrada es “Minerva”. Esa perra es una belleza y un animal muy noble. Lo único en contra es que sus patas destruyen el jardín de mi mamá y eso nos mete en problemas a todos.

I mean, we like to play with "Minerva" but when runs can't see where it's going because it has full adrenaline and almost always gives off 2 or 3 plants. But, It's fun to play with Minerva!

Me explico a nosotros nos gusta jugar con “Minerva” pero cuando ella corre no se ve por donde pasa porque tiene full adrenalina y casi siempre desprende 2 o 3 plantas. Jajajaja es divertido jugar con “Minerva”! aunque luego nos regañen a todos.

This cocker is called "Venus". It has the most beautiful coat of all the dogs we've had in the house. It's quieter than "Minerva" but it's also braver. Only accepts caresses from people it knows and my brother adores it... sometimes he even buys ice cream to spoil.

Este cocker se llama “Venus”. Tiene el pelaje más hermoso de todos los perros que hemos tenido en la casa. Es más tranquila que “Minerva” pero también es más brava. Sólo acepta caricias de personas que conoce y mi hermano la adora… incluso, a veces, le compra helado para consentirla.

CATS - GATOS

Now it's the cats' turn.

Cats started staying at my house because my sister likes these animals as pets.

Ahora viene el turno de los gatos.
Los gatos empezaron a quedarse en mi casa porque a mi hermana le gustan estos animales como mascota.

We have had several cats because they are very independent animals and sometimes they have disappeared and don't come back. We believe that other people kill them or that they suffer accidents in the street. When this happens we look for another cat of pet.

Although I said earlier that the cats are independent they know where their home is and always return after their nightly walks.

Hemos tenido varios gatos porque son animales muy independientes y veces han desaparecido y no vuelven más. Nosotros creemos que otras personas los matan o que sufren accidentes en la calle. Cuando esto sucede buscamos otro gato de mascota.
Aunque dije anteriormente que los gatos son independientes ellos saben dónde está su casa y siempre regresan después de sus paseos nocturnos.

In the pictures above are: "Benito" when he was little and "Cotufa" her sister. Benito was adopted by a neighboring family and "Cotufa" lives in my house.

En las fotografías anteriores están: “Benito” cuando era pequeño y “Cotufa” su hermana. Benito fue adoptado por una familia vecina y “Cotufa” vive en mi casa.

This sleeper is "Domino". It's a very fierce cat but an excellent hunter. One thing that strikes me is that he likes to sleep near flowering plants. I don't understand why but one can always get it by hugging a pot or in this case next to these flowers.

Some years ago we used to buy dehydrated food, both for cats and dogs, but now that kind of food is impossible for us to acquire, so we prepare food for them at home.

We must always take care of our pets because somehow we change their natural instincts and make them dependent on our homes. So, if we want to have a pet we must take care of them and treat them with love.

Este dormilón es “Dominó”. Es un gato muy arisco pero excelente cazador. Algo que me llama la atención es que le gusta dormir cerca de las plantas con flores. No entiendo por qué pero uno siempre lo puede conseguir abrazando a una maceta o en este caso al lado de estas flores.

Hace algunos años le comprábamos comida deshidratada, tanto a los gatos como a los perros, pero ahora ese tipo de comida es imposible para nosotros adquirirla, así que le preparamos comida en casa.

Siempre debemos cuidar a nuestras mascotas porque de alguna manera le cambiamos sus instintos naturales y los hacemos dependientes de nuestros hogares. Entonces, si queremos tener una mascota debemos cuidarlas y tratarlas con cariño.
