Atlas, the Titan prisoner of the Gods

A few years ago, a war between the Gods and the Titans was fought to put an end to who would have the superiority, a long battle that some say lasted seven years, but that others affirm that it was ten. Whatever the truth, it was a fight where the earth shook and the sky with the sea split when any of those powerful groups were nearby, no human was then to witness the great battle or at least one of the fights, the Story was told years later by themselves, of how the Gods defeated the Titans and sent them to a prison in the underworld, except for their leader Atlas.

Zeus thought about placing his leader in a position where the Titans would not try to rebel again, morally destroying their boss would make them surrender without trying, so he grant him the punishment of holding the sky, he sent him to the last corner of the world, where he would not hinder, separating the sky from the earth with his strength and, even being a Titan, it was difficult to keep the weight of the sky on his shoulders, his groans of pain reached every corner of the world and everyone found out that a Titan was keeping the sky now.

The place where he was supposed to be was a garden, The Garden of the Hesperides, the daughters of Atlas. Hera, the wife of Zeus, gave her the golden apples, they would grow them there and she would send a guardian to protect them and the apples. The golden apples had a rumor that each person who ate one would be immortal, but to reach the garden he or she would have to go through Atlas, after him they would have to go through and face the Dragon Lagon. Atlas had been given the prophecy that one of Zeus's sons was going to steal his apples, he was worried about it, he would be deceived and he couldn't let that go, because of his Titan pride.

Hercules came to Atlas, for one of his twelve jobs where he had to look for one of the golden apples, Atlas told him that it was dangerous, that he hold the sky for a moment and he would go for an apple. Hercules accepted the deal and could with the sky given its incredible strength, but Atlas after getting the apple told Hercules that he would take the apple to his boss, so that he would keep the sky a little longer and to be able to rest, Hercules accepted but he asked Atlas to carry the sky for a moment while he adjusted his cape as a shoulder support and at that moment he deceived Atlas and left with the apples, leaving the Titan sad and betrayed by his naivete.

After a time Perseus went, requesting asylum near him, to rest from his recent trip to the island of Galapagos for a mission given by the Goddess Aphrodite, but Atlas recalled the prophecy, he could not let everything that he protected like this be stolen from him. who denied him lodging. Perseus, seeing the disrespect he had for him, took out Medusa's head and turned it into stone, turning him into Atlas Mountain, the place where Heaven and Earth rest.

A while ago I wanted to talk about this character from Greek Mythology, Atlas came to my mind but I was not encouraged to look for him until now, to rescue the section where I talked about characters from Greek Mythology, to know more about them and to be able talk about those sad, wonderful and some vengeful stories.
