THROUGH THE PATCHWORK OF WOODS AND MEADOWS ... A Thursday walk filled with bugs & butterflies :D
It's early morning ...
... the morning glory's flowers are sprinkled with dew ...
... and inside those elegant trumpet - like tents ...
... caterpillars are feeding ...
... above them a spider ... is hanging on the thread ...
... the time is early spring 2019 ...
... and the place ...
... one of the many meadows in between stripes and patches of oak and elm woods ...
... in the southern part of Istra peninsula, in Croatia ...
... an area with small hills and long winding valleys that flow like green grassy rivers between them ...
... I'm walking around this place ...
... observing ...
... what this lush habitat has to offer ...
... there are many flowers ...
... scattered ...
... all around in the green ...
... this tiny spider is waiting in ambush on the petals ...
... ant this ... a bit bigger ...
... has constructed a large silky trap covering the grass ...
... two small snails are resting on a green straw, enclosed in the safety of their mobile homes ...
... nearby ... a beautiful little orchid ... that looks like smiling face of an alien ... or Pokémon ... or something silly like that ...
... and this beetle from the Curculionidae family is hiding in the intricate green labyrinth ...
... a ten or so steps further ...
... the ambiance is changing ...
... it gets darker ...
... with small spotlights passing across the forest floor ...
... here among the trees ...
... in deep shade ...
... everything looks ...
... more mysterious ...
... ants are transporting the rests of a tiny green moth ...
... this bug is resting on a thorny shrub ...
... above it ... on the branches and climbing plants covering those branches ...
... a very common brown butterfly ...
... down on the floor ... a half-eaten mushroom ... one of the very few species that appear in springtime here ...
... and an interesting snail ... very different from those on the meadow ...
... orchids here in the shade ...
... are also very different ...
... a minuscule jumping spider ... on the young oak sprout ...
... a Horse - fly ... with emerald eyes ...
... and a common emerald fly ... on the same plant ...
... a lovely berry of the Ruscus plant ...
... another beautiful botanical thing ... don't know on which plant exactly ...
... one of the many pumpkin spider species ...
... hanging high between the branches ... and feeding on something ...
... this looks like a little dry branch ...
... but branches don't grow on leaves, not on this plant at least ... and this little stick - like thing is moving too ...
... it's a very interesting caterpillar ...
... small leaves from some trees and higher shrubs ...
... are falling on large leaves of the plants on the forest floor ...
... the result - some lovely and photogenic arrangements ...
... a bit of elegant silk ...
... an elegant wild rose flower ...
... the Blackberry flower ...
... some minuscule shield bug nymph on a large leaf ...
... another spider not far from there ...
... a shiny little moth ...
... another little jewel ...
... shining in the green ...
... a beetle this time ...
... a tiny fly ...
... feeding, on the also very small, climbing plant flowers ...
... another small fly species ....
... a much bigger, Amata phegea moth ...
... another small beetle ...
... on the border of the tree covered area ... and then ...
... back on the open ...
... back in the grass ...
... among these ...
... pretty long ...
... and cool looking ...
... caterpillars ...
... these hairy ones ...
... are also prretty cool ...
... this spider, standing upside - down on the Blackberry leaf ... has another spider, of the same species ... in its fangs ...
... probably a female eating the male ...
... a red island in the sea of green ...
... the beautiful poppy flower ...
... and a living moving decoration ...
... is chewing its petals ...
... another shiny beetle species ...
... and here is an interesting plant ...
... with large leaves ...
... partially covered ...
... with minuscule thorns ...
... this is also some kind of island ...
... with a pretty large camouflaged cricket on it ...
... a delicate small flower nearby ...
... and another one ...
... a similar one ... covered with silk ...
... the young wasp spider on its web ...
... a minuscule spider ...
... among the droplets of dew ...
... near his silky shelter on the long blade of grass ...
... another one ... this one on the ear of grass ...
... an interesting black beetle climbing on the long stem of grass ...
... another ... very different beetle ... hanging on the grass ...
(Enlargeable)
... a grown up shield bug ... and the ant is passing by ...
(Enlargeable)
... the lovely yellow flowers ...
... on the St John's wort plant ... with strong healing properties ...
... and the closing shot of a closed snail ... THE END.
As always in these posts on Steemit, the photographs are my work.

Wow! Another amazing post full of all kinds of nature's miracles. I was thinking that I wished I had a place like this to walk until I saw all of the spiders. I have Arachnophobia so I had to pass by quickly with your spider photos. I love the walking stick caterpillar and the Amata Phegea Moth, both of which I have never seen before. Hell...I love every single photo here, minus the spiders of course! LOL! They way you wrote it, I went slowly because I didn't know what to expect with each new photo. LOL! Thanks for using #insectpub tag @borjan. Don't forget to put the link to this post here if you want to be entered in the Giveaway. You were one of the winners for the previous week. : )
:) Yes, a lot of spiders are hunting here, many types of webs around, especially on the narrow paths through the woods, is hard to miss a spider or two, no matter how carefully you try to avoid those webs ... but those on the grass are not so problematic they somehow always run away in time, so they don't climb on you accidentally ... almost never ...

Fascinating captures. I just love these journeys into the macro world of insect that you shared with us. I just published an insect post today too hehe :)
I'll check now :)
Those shrooms look like spooky deathcaps. I'm sure slugs are immune to their poison though.

Yes, slugs are incredible gourmets, I often see very toxic mushrooms eaten alive
I like the little jumpers as well.
