Achievement 2 @youraccountname Assignment: Basic Security in Steem
On this occasion I will try to discuss some of the questions raised in the post here for the second session of Achievement 2 in developing the Newcomers' Community.
Steemit is another decentralized paid social media platform
the whole decision making is left to system users without one individual who can impose his will on other individuals without the consent of the majority of system users.source
So in this case we must be careful in making a decision because all the results we do are systematic and cannot be contested.
Here's the question:
Question 1
Have you got all your keys back on steemit?
After the user has successfully registered on Steemit, the first thing that must be done is to control the downloded pdf key again
The image above is the download result of the pdf when you have successfully registered. There we are given two keys, namely:
- Tron TRX
- Steemit
Each is equipped with a private key which is the key for every account transaction from posting, opening a wallet and sending coins.
Question2
Are you aware of each of these main functions and limitations?
The Tron key (TRX) itself has one public and one private which functions to enter the Tron wallet application and make your transactions there.
While steemit, there are several keys starting from:
Master key: functions for all account activities starting from posting, sending coins and also creating a new key if needed.
Active private key functions to send coins to another account's wallet.
The post key functions to share posts, upvote and comment on posts.
These three keys are very important to be guarded, stored properly and tight. User may not give those three keys to others especially the Master key.
When you already know the function of each key, you don't need to use the master key in every transaction you make, starting from posting and also sending your coins. Again you have to keep it tight as the master key will be the alternative to all your steemit keys.
When you lose your post key and private key you can retrieve it using the master key. You can even replace it directly by changing your master key, because the post and private keys will automatically change automatically.
In addition to the keys I have mentioned above in Steemit, there is also a private memo key
which key memo function is to receive coins from the external market which you send to your account wallet. This is very important to understand because if the coins you send from the external market don't include this memo then your coins will be lost and it will be complicated later. The marketplace will not send your coins in a short time or they may not even be sent again at all.
Question 3
How do you plan on saving your master password?
In storing the key what I do is store it in a Gmail account that is equipped with authentication security. That might be enough for me. Because this way when my device goes out or breaks I can retrieve it back in my Gmail account while replacing another device. And this is comfortable for me. In this case I also need advice from friends to be able to choose another safe path.
Question 4
Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?
The trick is to click steem if you want to send steem or click steem dollars if you want to send steem dollars then you will select the transfer option as shown in the picture
After that you will be taken to the transfer to Account page as shown in the image below
Next, fill in the name of the account you want to send and click Next, your coins will be transferred successfully.
If you wish to send it to an external market account then it is mandatory to paste the memo given by the market you wish to send coins to, in the memo column, after which your coins will be in your external market account later.
Question 5
Do you know how to turn on your STEEM?
When you have steem both from the SBD conversion results in the internal market and those you buy from the external market, it will function in voting on the post when you turn it on by powering up.
You do this by clicking Steem and selecting the power up option. Look like the steps in the image below.
Next, you will be taken to a page like in the image below
After that your steem power will turn on and can curate any post.
DISCLAIMER: DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, UPLOAD YOUR KEY PICTURE! EVEN IF YOU HAVE DRAWN THEM DIGITALLY.
