in Newcomers' Community3 years ago

A Pleasant Day to all Steemians, both online and offline right now. May you have a safe and peaceful new week ahead.

Always remember fellow Steemians, Let's always put all the safety precautions into action as the Security of our Account lies in our hands,

Basic Security On Steem seems just a basic task that every Steemians should be aware of, but nonetheless everyone in the platform should take alert on, because this is indeed basic, but found to be a very important task that anyone should go through. Anyone of us who lost or forgot his/her 🔑 master password on his/her Steemit Account should expect not being able to retrieve their account's access.

Screenshot (6).png
We should have the capabilities to retrieve all our keys on Steemit.
We should also be familiar with its Key Functions and Restrictions

Master Password - is given upon creating our account, we need to save and secure it because it gives access to all other key permissions including our Owner Key, Active Key and Posting Key and if there's a need to update or change our password, it's as easy as counting 123, but with utmost care. We can find the Change Password tab beside Keys & Permissions tab under your Wallet
Just fill up and follow the guidelines below for changing and updating your password.
Owner Key - 2nd to your Master Password, your owner key followed, and also known to be the most important key that should be secured offline. Owner key's additional function includes; Reset Owner, Active, and Posting keys. It can also help you recover your account, change/update other keys and to decline voting rights.

Active Key - This key has to do with monetary actions on Steemit. Transferring and exchanging tokens, Power STEEM Up or Down,
SBD conversion, Vote for witnesses, placing an order on an exchange, Certain profile changes, Publish a Witness price feed and Creating a new user.
When transacting in your wallet, you will be asked to authenticate with your Active key. You should be mindful in making sure that this key information should only be entered in a trusted application and should be secured to avoid losing your tokens in the future.

Posting Key - a key that we use for actions that we do on our Steemit Account like starting to Post any content that we prepared, Comments on other Steemians post, giving our Upvotes or Downvotes on others posts, Resteem others post, Follow others account or unfortunately if there's a need to mute an account. This key however has its own limitations as it will not be responsible for any actions that involves monetary, meaning it is safe and we will not lose money if someone else gets to know our posting key.

Memo key - a key use for encrypting and decrypting memos or message when transferring funds.

SAVING and making sure to BACK UP OUR MASTER PASSWORD
Save it in anyway that it's secured and would be easier or more convenient for us to remember on where to check and get it. (yes it's secured and very safe to the extent that even you as the owner don't even remember where to get it, lol but sometimes true) So long as we should be very mindful or careful not to save it in a third party unverified website to avoid the information being steal from us. Save it Offline, both hard and soft copy to make sure if anything comes up our account are fully secured.

Transferring your Steem token to another Steem user's account

See screenshots and instructions below to know how it's easy to transfer your Steem token to another Steemians or user's account.

You go to your wallet, under Balances tab either look for Steem or Steem Dollars then click the drop-down arrow beside the Steem or SBD figure to transfer an amount to anyone on Steemit. On the sample below, it shows that you're transferring your Steem balance, so you need to make sure you transfer either lower or equal to the balance on your wallet as it will fail if it's higher.
