Achievement 2 - Basic Security on Steem by @yakeen20
Hello everyone, I am very glad that my achievement task 1 was verified and I would like to continue with achievement 2 task. Achievement 2 task is mainly about security in steemit. Security means being secured or protected from harm or danger. Security is very essential in protecting ones personal information, detecting crimes, preventing ones account from being hacked and many more.
Question 1
Have you retrieve all your keys on steemit?
Yes, I have retrieved all my steemit keys and have even save them in my gmail account. These include,master key,posting key,owner key and active key.
Question2
Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?
Yes, I am now familiar with my keys and their restrictions.
Posting key:The posting key is used often for our daily logins.This key is used to create a post, cast a vote on a post,to edit any post to resteem, to follow others and to mute others as well.
Master key: This is the most important key among all the other keys.All the other keys can be derived using the master key and so it should be kept safely. Ones account can be hacked if the master key is known.
Owner key: This is another powerful and important which can be used to alter any other keys of your account.This account is used during emergency and should not be used any how. It should be stored off line for safe keeping.
Active key: This key is used during voting for witnesses, transfer of funds, power up/down transactions, converting steem dollars and placing market orders. This key can also be used to update your profile details.
Memo key: This is the key used in encrypting and decrypting memos during funds transfer. A memo is encrypted by using the pound(#)sign before it.
Question 3
How do you plan to keep your master password?
My master key has been stored safely as it has been sent into my gmail account and I have also downloaded the keys as a file and stored it into my hard drive. I will also make sure no one has access to my master key as well.
Question 4
Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?
Yes, transfer of steem token is done by the following steps:
Steps:
1.Click on the Avator Icon from the top right corner as indicated below
2.Click on Wallet and log in your wallet with the active key
3.From the new page opened click on the small down pointed arrow on Steem balance.
4.Click on transfer
5.Enter the username of the user without the @ sign and enter the amount to transfer.
6.Click on next and then click on OK to confirm transaction.
Question 5
Do you know how to power up your STEEM?
Yes I do, the following procedures would help indicate how to power up.
###Steps:
1.Click on the avator Icon
2.Click on Wallet and log in your wallet with the active key
3.From the new page opened click on the small down pointed arrow on steem balance.
4.Click on Power Up
5.From the new page enter the amount to power up and click
- Click Power Up and then click OKto confirm.
