ACHIEVEMENT 3: CONTENT ETIQUETTE
PLAGIARISM is often said to be copying people's contents and idea and so making them look like yours. It can also be said to be making use of people's idea without giving credit to them. However it can be likened to theft.
CITATION
Plagiarism can appear in the form of texts, images and videos but to use these, one has to cite them.
To cite texts, you can put them in quotes and type exactly how it was said. For example;
"When the going gets tough, the tough gets going"
However in certain cases, authors choose to paraphrase instead of citing texts. They do this by trying to use synonymous words to replace some words thereby passing same information. This act is also regarded as plagiarism.
A plagiarized post can be accidental or deliberate if an author fails to source their texts, images and videos or intentionally copy someone else's work respectively.
HOW TO SOURCE IMAGES AND TEXTS
Sourcing your images, texts and videos is a way of making reference to another author thereby giving them credit for creating the original content. To do this, you paste the link immediately after the text,image or videos. For example
PLAGIARISM is likened to theft and therefore warrants penalties alike. Therefore all steemians are advised against plagiarism as anyone who indulges in this act would be considered a thief. This is to build the minds of steemians towards thinking wide to create original posts.
