Achievement 3: Content Etiquettes by @timani

in Newcomers' Community3 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemians, today I want to talk about the content etiquettes of Steemit, that is some rules to obey when writing contents, what to do when writing content on Steemit that will enable you to make your content accepted by the Steemit community.

PLAGIARISM

canstockphoto47064356.jpg

This is one of the basic content etiquette of the Steemit community. In simple terms, we can say plagiarism means copying. Plagiarism is the act of copying or using someone's content and pretending to be the author.

For example,

  1. If you are writing your second achievement and you go and copy @salamdeen's achievement 2 content and posting it as your achievement 2 will be caught as plagiarism because that achievement 2 content is not yours and your content will be caught by comparing the date you posted your content and that of the date @salamdeen posted his content which will be late as compared to @salamdeen's content.

  2. Let's assume you are creating your achievement 3 content and you go to @nattybongo's achievement 3 post and copy the first paragraph and paste as your first paragraph and then copy @oppongk's second paragraph and paste as your second paragraph after which you copy@njaywan's third paragraph and paste as your third paragraph, this content will be caught as a plagiaric work which will not be accepted by the Steemit community.

  3. For instance, you are creating your own content not for a contest or achievement for Steemit community but just your own creative content and you go to a different source like The Man, his son and their donkey from the Ghanaian primary English book and copy the story and paste as if it is your own story will be detected and caught as a plagiaric work.

CITATION

This is when you find a paragraph or sentence from a different source and you wish to add it to your content. You will be required to paraphrase or attach quotation marks to the the paragraph, quote or sentence you wish to add to your content and add the source from which that paragraph, quote or sentence is copied from. When this is done, your content will not be considered as a plagiaric work because you have clearly indicated that that part of the content do not belong to you and this is what is called CITATION .

Below is an example;

This is the original text,
The peanut belongs to the botanical family Fabaceae (or Leguminosae), commonly known as the legume, bean, or pea family.[1] Like most other legumes, peanuts harbor symbiotic nitrogen-fixing bacteria in root nodules.[6] The capacity to fix nitrogen means peanuts require less nitrogen-containing fertilizer and improve soil fertility, making them valuable in crop rotations.Source

Paraphrased;
The peanut belongs to the botanical family Fabaceae (or Leguminosae), commonly known as the legume, bean, or pea family.Source

This paraphrasing can be continued on all the content you wish to paraphrase.

ABUSIVE AND OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE

The use of abusive and offensive languages are not tolerated on the Steemit community. Offensive languages such as the N and F word are not to be used in your content and abusive languages such as insults, harassment and others are not entertained in the Steemit community.

EFFECTS OF VIOLATING THE CONTENT ETIQUETTES

  1. When a person do not obey the content etiquettes, the number of votes and followers of the person will be low which will not encourage the person to do more.

  2. It may lead one to the lose of his or her Steemit account. If after several warnings sent to you and there is no changes in your content etiquettes, Steemit will have no other option but to remove you from the platform.

HOW TO AVOID CONTENT ETIQUETTES VIOLATION

canstockphoto25731978.jpg

  1. Be creative, when you are creative and compiles your own content with your own ideas, Steemit will have no reason to take any action against you because there will be no plagiarism in your content.

  2. Avoid the use of offensive and abusive languages by trying to be polite when creating a content.

  3. Try to cast away the spirit of laziness because Steemit and laziness can never be together.

I personally have read and understood the content etiquettes of the Steemit community and I will try my possible best to embrace all the etiquettes of the Steemit community

Thanks for visiting, please vote, comment and follow

Remember, ALWAYS SMILE.
