Hello everyone!!! After being on the platform for several months I thought of doing the Achievement 3 task which is "Content Etiquette". Also up to now, I have already completed my Achievement 1 & Achievement 2 successfully.

This is something that all should be aware of, not only for the steemians but also for all the content writers all over the world. So let’s take a look at what plagiarism is and the several types of plagiarism.

What is plagiarism?

"Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without their full acknowledgment".Source

This simply emphasizes that taking someone else’s ideas, thoughts, photos..etc without the proper permission of the original owners.
Somehow, you can use someone else ideas, thoughts, photos, etc. by giving them the full credit by mentioning the original source. There’s no issue with it. But if you aren’t mentioning the original user’s/ users’ name, then it’ll become a plagiarism one.

Types of plagiarism?

According to the Enargo academy web, plagiarism can be categorized into eight subtopicsSource
1- Complete Plagiarism- This is defined as, taking someone else’s work as bulk and using it as his/her own without giving credit.
2- Source-based Plagiarism-This happens by mentioning a source that is incorrect or mentioning a source that doesn’t exist at all.
3- Direct Plagiarism- This is happening when a person takes someone's words or phrases without giving credit to the authors.
4-Self or Auto Plagiarism- This happens by reusing your own content again and again.
5- Paraphrasing Plagiarism- This happens when using someone else’s work with minor changes while the original idea remains the same. This is a very common scenario.
6-Inaccurate Authorship- This happens in two ways. The first one is that someone has directly involved in content without getting the credit. And the other is getting credit even without involving in anything.
7- Mosaic Plagiarism- This happens by changing the original work by replacing similar words with the original content. However, this is somewhat difficult to detect.
8- Accidental plagiarism- This happens without knowing or unknowingly by taking words or phrases from certain content.

In the modern world, there are so many sources where anyone can find anything with the use of the internet in seconds. So the influence of copying is very high. But it is not a good practice to take someone else belongings without their permission. So hereafter let's avoid plagiarism and try to create our own.
