Achievement 2/ basic security on steemit by @simba-sammy

Greetings to all members of this noble family. Hope you are all doing great in your endeavors and wellbeing. I deem it a pleasure to take you through my second achievement as required. First achievement was on introduction and the second is about basic security on steem especially newcomers.

OBJECTIVES OF ACHIEVEMENT 2
1.It is geared towards enlightening newcomers on how their passwords or keys work and how to differentiate from the various keys and uses. Thus the posting key, private owner key, memo key and active key
2.It is also a means of bringing to light the use of the steem wallet as essential in various dimensions.
I will like to first take you through the keys and their uses;
Private posting key; this can be said to be the social key. This is because it is the log in key that one uses when one has to perform social activities such as blogging, posting, commenting, voting and the like. I think it is the key that is often used by steemians.
Private memo key; I call it the encryptment key. When one logs in with this key, messages sent via the blockchain are encrypted.it simply decrypts private transfer memos.
Private active key; this key is mainly used for wallet related and monetary related actions which may include token transfers, trading and markets, steem power up.
Private owner key; this key helps the steemian to reset all other keys. When one’s account is compromised, this key helps to recover the account within 30days.
Personally I commend the keys given by steemit because they cannot be easily memorized or committed to memory.one will simply copy and paste. The keys are downloaded in a pdf file format when one is creating the account. It is therefore advisable for one to keep it in a place where another password is used to open, this prevents intruduct of any form.One can do so by keeping the pdf file of the keys in drop box, google drive, etc.
Having gone through the types of keys and their uses, I will like to move to the use of the steem wallet.
The steem wallet is where most of the monetary related actions are done. This implies that one has to log in with the private active key in order to perform any action in the steem wallet. Some of the wallet related actions in the steemwallet include, transfers, trading and markets, steem power up. These actions form the basis of all transactions made on steemit and it is therefore prudent that all newcomers on steemit take notice of. The steem wallet is made of three categories; steem, steem power and steem black dollar(SBD),to make you understand them;
Steem is the liquid form of cryptocurrency that is used for internal transactions and is also used to power up a steem power
Steem power is the type of steem that enables you to comment and perform many transactions on the steemit blockchain, this steem is locked up and be changed into liquid steem after 4 weeks.
Steem black dollar(SBD) is the steem that that may be transferred to a different account or traded for a steem in a liquid form on the digital market.
Learn how to power up
One must first log in with the private active key in order to power up.
Go to profile
Select wallet

Select steem, thus with the arrow pointing downwards

Select power up from the menu

Select the amount you want to power up by and then click power up for confirmation

Learn how to transfer a token to a different account
Again one has to log in with the private active
Go to profile and click on wallet
Select transfer from the menu
Select steem and enter the amount and username of the recipient and click on next to confirm trasfer
