They are molecules that provide energy to our body, they can be found in food as well as fats and proteins.

For our tissues, cells and organs of the body glucose or sugar that are carbohydrates are essential sources of energy.

Foods that contain Carbohydrates:

⭐️vegetables such as potato, corn.
⭐️Beans, legumes, lentils
⭐️Rice, pasta, cereal and bread.

Types of Carbohydrates

Monosaccharides	Disaccharides
Oligosaccharides	Polysaccharides

Monosaccharides : They are compounds formed by a single molecule of reduced molecular mass, it cannot be decomposed into another and is made up of between 3 to 7 carbon atoms, where one of these atoms joins a carbonyl group.

Disaccharides: They are substances constituted by two monosaccharides through the bond called glycosidic, thus being C-O-C similar to the union of a hydroxyl group with an aldehyde or ketone.

Oligosaccharides: they are carbohydrate molecules, they are from 2 to more than 10 units of monosaccharides, they are linked by glycosidic bonds.

Polysaccharides: They are polymers, it is the union of several monosaccharides that are linked by glycosidic bond.

Advantages of carbohydrates

They are the best and largest macronutrients with the necessary calories that it gives to our body to acquire the necessary energy to perform our activities on a daily basis.

Disadvantage of carbohydrates If it is consumed in excess, carbohydrates become fat for our body, causing obesity, but the diet is adequately controlled.
