A Day at Pitha Utsob

Pitha-puli has been playing an important role in Bengali folk history tradition for a long time. Generally, Pitha is very well known as winter rasana food. Especially loved in Bengali society as a delicacy.

Besides, the festival of Pitha, Puli plays a special role in Bengali culture to make the bond of mutual relations between relatives and people stronger and stronger.

The famous poet of Bangladesh, Begum Rokeya Kamal, wrote the poem "Polli Maer Kol" around Pitha

''poush parbone pitha khete boshi khushite bisom
kheye
aro ullash bariyache mone mayer bokuni
peye''.

Pitha is Bengali's favorite food. Winter is really the time to eat pitha at home. And recently, not only at home but also in the markets of Bengal, various types of pitha are available.

Who does not love to eat pitha? Pitha is the favorite food of everyone from young to old. There are different flavors of different pitha. Most of the pitha taste is sweet but there are salty, sour, and even spicy pitha.

Pitha is Bengal's own primitive and noble foodstuff. Jaggery is prepared from palm juice in the winter season. And it is also an essential ingredient for pitha preparation. Also, different types of ingredients are used such as rice flour, oil, coconut,sugar, palm, and vegetables. Different varieties of pitha are seen in different regions.

Today's life is not as easy and simple as it used to be. Especially, people living in urban areas do not have much time to be busy with making pitha. Preparation before making pitha requires time and effort. But pitha still attracts a lot of people, even in urban areas. And so, street vendors sit on the pavements with pithas as well as in elite big-name shops. .

Day-long or week-long pitha festivals are organized to taste pitha and make pitha more popular among the public. I enjoyed visiting the National Pitha Festival organized at the National Art Academy in the capital. I have shown some pictures of this festival

Tired, we also sat once. I bought some pithas, the pithas were very nice to eat.
At the utsob, shopkeepers from different districts of Bangladesh set up shops with traditional pithas of their own areas. I spent a very nice evening with my family at this festival.
