Hello steemians,
How are you and how is everyone in new comers community. On my side am doing great. First and foremost I want to thank you for the verification of my achievement 2 task that I finished and am so grateful.

I want to continue with another task of achievement 3 that is all about plagiarism or content etiquette. Am going to take you through this in my own understanding especially am going to talk about the;

How to prevent plagiarism

As I start firstly let me introduce to you the meaning of plagiarism.

Plagiarism refers to the act as if the stolen work is their own and deceive others into believing that they where creators of the content. And so this is really a bad act which needs to be stopped immediately.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
They are basically four types of plagiarism to my own understanding and these are as follows;

Direct plagiarism
This means transcription of a word-for-word section of someone else’s work without attribution and without quotation marks and by this it is unethical, dishonest and leads to expulsion of your work from the steemit platform.

Self plagiarism
This is when you submit your own previous work without permission for example it would be unacceptable to incorporate part of your work into the assigned one.

Mosaic plagiarism
This refers to when you borrow phrases from a source without using quotation marks while keeping to the same original content.
This can also be called patch writing which is kind of paraphrasing whether intentional or not, it’s dishonest and punishable even if your content is footnote.

Accidental plagiarism
This is the last type where a person neglects to cite their sources and misquotes them or unintentionally paraphrases a source by using similar words without attribution.

CONSEQUENCES OF PLAGIARISM
There are many consequences that emerge from this act since it’s a bad one and everyone is not titled to it .
These are as follows;

Loss of reputation on the steemit platform and credibility. This will put you down and you won’t be recognized anywhere to the steemit communities. It can easily be seen in your information or content produced by using the plagiarism checker.

Disqualification of steemian on the platform. Where everyone in the steemit communities can chase or disqualify you from the whole platform.

Monetary repercussions and this is results to loss of your steem dollars since your disqualified and then your account is no more and the assets are not yours so we should be very careful to stop plagiarism.

HOW TO PREVENT PLAGIARISM
Since plagiarism is a bad act on steemit and so everyone should stop it is he or she has been doing so .

Firstly believe in your self. As me what I do is to first believe in my self that I can produce nice and good content to my community and so this won’t let you think of plagiarism at all since it’s an offense.

Credit the original author in an in-text citation and reference list. By this you put your source at the end of the section of your article you got from another source hence preventing plagiarism.

Paraphrase or quote from your source and in this you add your own ideas to your content on steemit.

Keep track of the sources you consult in your research as to prevent or stop plagiarism. So avoid being astray to the specific point.

Use a plagiarism checker before you submit in your content to the steemit communities on steemit platform and since technology emerged then this is done at a free cost.

In conclusion therefore I have understood that plagiarism is a bad act and should be stopped more so no one is entitled to it. Since it’s punishable and one can be suspended from the steemit platform when suspected.
From all the above I will never practice any form of plagiarism on the steemit platform and I will always write my own content to it’s perfect form. There fore this is my achievement 3 being done thank you so much for your time.
