Achievement 3 by @sarahraudhah Task : Content Etiquette
Hello and good day everyone.
Thanks @cryptokannon for giving us this task.
If you're also new, you can check the Lists of Achievement Tasks,Resources & Materials : Newcomers Resources.
I'm @sarahraudhah and this is my post for Achievement 3.
I'm using Photo Editor Pro fo this photo.
My personal favourite from The Complete Steemit Etiquette Guide (Revision 2.0).
13) Don't direct message people you don't know in the chat
"I have seen lots of people doing this particularly to whales and people with higher SP. It is understandable but it is also an intrusion on people's privacy and hardly polite. Don't do it unless someone has explicitly said they are OK with it (e.g. reporting abuse to Steemcleaners etc.) or you have another really good reason - just sharing your post is not good enough." Source
To be honest, I didn't do it before cause I already read The Guide but then I see so many people been doing it again lately and get high votes. So, I'm in between.
Now that I already get it off my chest, let's roll.
What is Plagiarism
According to the University of Oxford website,
"Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. All published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form, is covered under this definition. Plagiarism may be intentional or reckless, or unintentional. Under the regulations for examinations, intentional or reckless plagiarism is a disciplinary offence." Source
We should acknowledge others’ work or ideas applies not only to text, but also to other media, such as computer code, illustrations, graphs etc.Source
"The best way of avoiding plagiarism is to learn and employ the principles of good academic practice from the beginning of your university career. Avoiding plagiarism is not simply a matter of making sure your references are all correct, or changing enough words so the examiner will not notice your paraphrase; it is about deploying your academic skills to make your work as good as it can be." Source
You would think a professor or lecturer would know better not to do plagiarism as they have done so many research and all. Well, think again. If I'm not mistaken, in my second year of University, a lecture (or some, I don't remember much) from another department was kicked out or fired as they deliberately copy our lecturers' work (from our department) and mark as their own. They were kicked out after some investigation. My thought at that time was, "Do you think you could get away with that?"
These are the differences of a deliberate plagiarism and accidental plagiarism.
I'm so happy that I can finally say that I've achieved the objectives of this Task. 😃
These are my past performance.
Sorry that I took too long.
