Achievement 6 Task by @sanjeev.kumar: Understanding Curation and Community

in Newcomers' Community4 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemins,

This is my achievement 6 task and I am happy to share knowledge on Steem Curation and Community. First I would like to thank @cryptokannon for the guidance. Thanks to @justyy for the developments and guide. And I like to thank @rishabh99946 the #India representative for the support through this steemit journey.

Here is my understanding about curation and community.

1. Do you understand how voting and curation work in Steemit?

It's very simple. You can upvote anyone all you need to do just one click and it's done. There are two buttons (green for upvote and red for downvote). You can upvote based on good content it will not cost your steem.

Curation rewards can be earned from upvoting posts and comments. The rewards are allocated 50% of the payout goes to the author of the post/comment, and the remaining 50% goes to the curator as per the default setting.

2. What happened if you vote a post before 5 minutes mark after posting?

When you publish a post, 100% of the curation reward will remain in the rewards pool. But initial It varies from 0- 5 minutes. For example, if someone vote after 3 minutes then it'll break into 60% and 40%, curator Rewards, and reward pool respectively.

3. Who will you vote for Steem Witness ? and Why?

Witnesses are generally selected by the steem community to create blocks for the steemit blockchain. I have already voted to @steemchiller who has made steemworld.org, @futureshock who has made steemscan.com, and @justyy for Steemyy.com. These tools are very useful.

4. Which community will you join in Steemit, and why?

I joined Steem in the last of July 2020. Initially, I was not familiar with any communities. But I started exploring my interest currently I'm in the following communities:-

Hi, @sanjeev.kumar

I appreciate your keenness to complete this task.

As you are in the final task, I would like to ask a few questions to ascertain a better understanding of "voting & curation".

You can upvote based on good content it will not cost your steem.

  1. Who pays the money when you hit the upvote button??

  2. What happens if someone hits the downvote button, I mean where does the reward go after downvoting??

  3. What is the different between 50/50 reward and 100% reward? Will you get the same currencies in both?

If you need any help/understanding on this, we can discuss it here in the comment section, and I will also help you to pass this task.

Once again I appreciate your effort in this Newcomers Achievement Program.

Thank you.

Hi @sapwood,

Who pays the money when you hit the upvote button??

When you upvote someone’s post - that value is not being withdrawn from your personal account. You’re not giving anyone anything from your personal savings or STEEM Power. Instead, you’re vote is actually tapping into a brand new pool of STEEM. There’s a fresh batch of STEEM produced every day, and it’s called the daily rewards pool. The rewards pool is an amount of STEEM generated every day from inflation. This daily STEEM represents the pool from which your vote takes a certain amount and distributes it to where you’ve directed.

When you hit the upvote button you are informing the STEEM Blockchain, “this is where I want X amount of the daily rewards pool to go.” The amount that you’re able to direct is dependent on the amount of STEEM Power you have. So the more SP you have, the more of the daily rewards pool you can direct to posts you like! (Your vote is not affected by liquid STEEM or SBD).

What happens if someone hits the downvote button, I mean where does the reward go after downvoting??

When someone hit the downvote that means the person felt more beneficial to the other active posts in the platform. And rewards goes back to the reward pool.

What is the different between 50/50 reward and 100% reward? Will you get the same currencies in both?

When you publish your post by default set 50% SBD/50% SP , Which means, you will be receiving your rewards in 50 percent Steem Power and 50 percent Steem Dollar. I believe that it was set that way so that the rewards will not be all liquid and also to increase the Steem Power of an author.

When you choose the Power Up 100%, means that all your author rewards will be in Steem Power. If you wish to receive purely Steem Power whether to increase the value of your votes faster or simply wanting it to be all in Steem form, this is a good option to choose for anyone. Steem Power as described in Steemit page is: "Influence tokens which give you more control over post payouts and allow you to earn on curation rewards."

this is my understanding of "voting & curation".

Thank you
