in Newcomers' Community3 years ago (edited)

Hi my able stemains, I am here again as we make progress in understanding/having more ideas on how steemit works or what its all about and also the rules and regulations.
This time around, I am here to talk about PLAGIARISM.

What is plagiarism:

According to the english dictionary, plagiarism is defined as the copying of another person’s ideas, text,or other creative work and presenting them as yours, especially without permission or citattion.

Types of plagiarism:

  1. Global plagiarism
This is the type of plagiarism whereby you take an entire post or writing by someone else and pass it as yours. This is a severe type of plagiarism and its usually frowned at.

  2. Paraphrasing plagiarism:
This is the act of reprasing a piece of text in your own words without citation. This is the most common type of of plagiarism. Paraphrasing won’t be a problem as long as you cite your sources. It only becomes and issue when you cite them as if they are yours.

  3. Mosiac plagiarism:
This can also be called patch work plagiarism. This simply means copying or citing phrases, ideas from different sources and bringing them together to creat your own.

Consequences of plagiarism:

Plagiarism can affect both academically, professionally and legally. A plagiarised work can ruin your reputations and also that of that of the main owner. You can also be sued for a plagiarized work as it is a legal offence.

Ways to avoid plagiarism:

• Cite your sources.
• Keep track on your sources.
• Used a plagiarised checker to go through your work.

I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them at the end of this task post.
