I will use this opportunity to show you how to secure your steemit account and also show you the various advantages and keys provided by the steemit blockchain. Have you retrieved all your keys on steemit?

Yes, I have retrieved all the keys and passwords which are required to access all my tools to be used on this steemit platform. Upon receiving the keys, I was a bit fascinated by the multiple numbers of keys, and as usual, I didn’t even understand their relevance. But then, after going through the post content by @cryptokannon, I am very excited that the steemit operators put great systems in place to protect me from hackers who would want to compromise my account.

Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?

Yes, I know the functions of every single key, as well as their restrictions.

The keys provided among others consisted of the steemit private keys which comprise the following;

Private posting keys: Used to log in to apps such as steemit.com and perform social actions such as posting, commenting, editing, voting, resteem, and following or muting other accounts. The most frequently used key on the platform should be your posting keys. An individual is most likely to have their password or key compromised the more they use it. Hence the posting key should always be used for logging in to your account to restrict the damage that a compromised account key would cause. In the case where this key is comprised, only your social work can be accessed and not your funds.

The private active key: This is used for sensitive tasks that involve monetary and wallet-related actions, such as transferring funds, power up or power down transactions, converting Steem Dollars, voting for witnesses, updating profile details, and placing a market order.

The private memo key: This is also used for encrypting and decrypting memos when transferring funds. In order to encrypt a memo, it is required to use the pound/# sign before it.

The Owner key: This is an important key. Its purpose is to change any of the account’s keys, this includes the Owner key itself. This key should be stored offline, and only used in case one’s account has been compromised.

The Master Password: This key is used to generate all the other keys including the owner key. This serves to distinguish how delicate the Master password is, and tends to establish the harm that could be caused if that password is lost to any random/fraudulent person. The master password is only required for account recovery, in which case you should be retrieving the master password from safe keep/storage.

How do you plan to keep your master password

Because of the importance of this key, I intend to save my master password offline and well written in a diary that I only have access to. Moreover, I will also encrypt one in MS Word with a password I will remember.

Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?

Yeah. I know how to transfer my steem token to another steem user account.

1. Log in to your steemit account.

Click on the avatar-like image on the top right corner of the page.

A drop-down menu will appear. Select Profile from the menu

Click on wallet

Click on STEEM, a drop-down list will appear

Click on transfer

Type the name of the recipient and the amount you are transferring in their respective places and click on Next.

With your wallet opened, Click on STEEM, and a drop-down list will appear.

Click on Power Up

Indicate the amount to power up and click on Power Up

I have really understood the basic securities on the steemit platform and its usage. Because of this, I won’t share my keys with anyone for security reasons. Thank you.
