In a simple term, plagiarism can be defined as an act of using another person’s writeup, idea, picture etc to create a content without acknowledging the author or source through the use of citation hence pretending to be the author.

Plagiarism can further be regard as Stealing of ideas, written work and picture etc.

This tremendous action can occur in various ways. However, let’s check them

Types of plagiarism

• Paraphrasing plagiarism
• Self-plagiarism
• Patch write up plagiarism
• verbatim plagiarism etc

Paraphrasing plagiarism:

This is a popular type of plagiarism in which the perpetrator rewrite anything an already existed work by replacing some words using another word that is similar in meaning. Most writers do go extra mile in using rewriting app or websites to initiate the act.
Paraphrasing can be intentional or unintentional as a result of the writers self attempt of making a self explanation of what he/she had already read. Paraphrasing plagiarism is also regarded as a mosaic plagiarism

Self-plagiarism

This is the continuous repetition of a publication done by a particular author in another (most time several) writeup. This plagiarism is also called recycling plagiarism.
On steemit platform, this type of plagiarism is regarded as an act of cross-posting.

404 plagiarism:

This is a type of plagiarism in which the writer’s source link does not match. It can be intentional or unintentional.

Patch write up plagiarism:

This type of plagiarism is regarded as an act of mixing up an already existing works done by multiple authors without giving out a citation to them.

Verbatim plagiarism:

This plagiarism is an act of duplicating an exact publication/writeup of an author word to word using copy and paste method. Another name for this plagiarism is clone plagiarism. This is one of the worse plagiarism ever.

How to avoid plagiarism in a write up

• Avoid copying any sentences. Ensure that you read and comprehend everything before embarking in writing.

• Verify your writeup on plagiarism checking websites

• The use of citation (referencing) should be done whenever a writer import a writeup, picture or any related in his/her write up.

• Writeup that will be post online should use this citation/referencing mark down.
