So today I am going to talk about plagiarism.

What is Plagiarism?

Plagiarism is copying someone else's work without mentioning them in your work.

"Plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's original work." ^wikipedia

If you steal someone's work without mentioning the source then, you are plagiarizing the content and it's a crime.

People do plagiarism in different ways, direct plagiarism is when we copy the content from somewhere and just paste it as your content without any citation.
And when we use various sentences from the sources to create another piece without proper citations is called mosaic plagiarism.
Some people reuse their previous work without putting much effort into new content is called self-plagiarism.

There are cases where the mind is of someone else but it is presented by another person.

If we look back to our school days, sometimes our parents have done our homework, this is an example of plagiarism too.
Asking some intelligent student in the class to write our assignment is also a case of plagiarism.

Similar examples can be seen in our professional world too, to gain incentives or promotion, people adopt plagiarism.

To avoid plagiarism use quotations, while using an exact phrase, a sentence from a source. Always write the content in your own words, after getting an idea from the source.

Always mention the source, when you take an exact sentence as we do in our college projects. Mentioning the name of the author shows your genuine and gives value to the original content creator.
