Good day great people of Steemit Community! Having completed my achievement 1 and 2 task I present my achievement 3 task to this great platform.

Rules and regulations are like fence that goes round a building for protection and to equally prevent unnecessary trespassing. Human being over time has shown through their behavior that if they are not regulated by rules and regulations can do so many annoying things that may discredit the platform they found themselves. Based on this so many platform create rules and regulations in order to bring order to the platform; Steemit as a platform equally has rules and regulations that guides the activities of the group and it's members.

Writing is equally govern by rules and regulations, these rules and regulations is what is referred to as content etiquette. Content Etiquette are the rules and regulations guiding writing as a whole, it comprises of DOs and DON'Ts that helps your writing look unique and presentable. Plagiarism is one of the DON'Ts in content etiquette.

Plagiarism can be defined as the act of presenting someone's work or articles as your own work, It can be done consciously or unconsciously. The reason for using the word unconsciously is because so many people plagiarizes out of ignorance, but ignorance as they say is not an excuse. Plagiarism is a serious offense in the world of writing and the offenders if caught could face a serious punishment.

The offense of plagiarism can result in punishment as it comes under the copyright laws that protect the right of the lawful author or owner of the text or content. Writing must have its essence, and therefore the writer needs to put in his own words and emotions to sound genuine.

Duplicate or copied content takes away the originality of the writing itself, and therefore the writing fails to reach the reader as well. Therefore, for research papers, academic papers, the writers must be careful with their source material.

People pay great price to put up great works, so it would be so discouraging to see the work you laboured for somewhere else without any indication that the labour belongs to you. So many persons seek recognition, but they don't want to pay the price to be recognized, they are looking for shortcut to fame and unfortunately there's is no shortcut to greatness, anything that looks like shortcut would cut ones life short.

Types of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is of many types and it would be good to familiarize ourselves with this types so as not to fall victim of any. For me I classified plagiarism into two namely Conscious plagiarism in which the plagiarist knows what he or she is doing and unconscious Plagiarism, in which the plagiarist does it out of ignorance. But there are other well known types of Plagiarism like Direct, Mosaic and so on.

  • Direct Plagiarism
In this type of Plagiarism the plagiarist copies someone's work without referencing the person or using quotation mark on the copied work.
    Source

  • Mosaic Plagiarism
This is the type of Plagiarism that falls under the unconscious type of Plagiarism.

There is another type of plagiarism which is unintentional. In this case, the plagiarist may have mentioned the source of the content he has referred to. But, if he/she does not acknowledge the quoted part or put them under the quotation marks correctly, then the writer commits the crime of plagiarism. Whether intended or unintended, plagiarism is a serious crime as it ensures writing to be the property of a writer.
It is essential to refer to certain source materials to enrich writing. If a writer uses the internet as a source, he must know what not to do, so that he can avoid plagiarism. The most important thing for it is to properly mention the source of the work he has referred to. If he/she has used word by word, then he should use quotation marks. A writer must be careful about mosaic plagiarism.
This type of plagiarism occurs when the writer borrows phrases or even parts from a particular source material without using quotation marks or substitutes some of the words from the content without changing the original structure of the source. Unintentionally paraphrasing someone else’s work without proper also leads to mosaic plagiarism. Sometimes, the plagiarists do “patch-writing” by paraphrasing certain parts and then copy and paste the text or parts from it. It is another form of mosaic plagiarism. These two ways can be an assignment help for the writer who needs and to avoid the most common types of plagiarism.

  • Self Plagiarism
Ignorance they say is never an excuse, I really thank God am participating in this achievement task because it really made know so many things I was ignorant about. I have always argued that there is nothing like self Plagiarism until I did this study.

Self-plagiarism is one of the common types of plagiarism, where high school students copy and paste part of their previously submitted academic paper. If the student submits the same paper for two different class projects without asking the concerned teacher, then that is considered as self-plagiarism.
Though self-plagiarism does not often end with serious legal action, that can affect the presentation for academic papers, research papers.

  • Accidental Plagiarism
This type of Plagiarism also falls under the unconscious type of Plagiarism.

Another common form of plagiarism involves accidental plagiarism. When the plagiarist misquotes the phrases or parts of the text he/she has taken from the source material or does not cite the source even or adequately or cites a wrong source, they that is considered as plagiarism. For incorrect authorship, even though the name of the work gets cited, the original writer can take disciplinary actions against the plagiarist, even though accidental plagiarism in no way intended.

How to Avoid Plagiarism.
It very important we become original in everything we do, being original has nothing to do with copying people's work without proper citation, you become more fake when you spend all your time copying people's material. This issue of plagiarism can be avoided by carefully paying attention to what you are writing and equally citing the work immediately it is copied, most times when we procrastinate we tend to forget that we have not referenced the work.

In the case of images, there's a way we check if an image is free to be used or not, below are the steps to be taken;

  • Go to www.google.com

  • Type the name of the work you are looking for

Screenshot_20220125-101117.png

Screenshot_20220125-112040.png

  • Click on this icon

  • Then move to the right hand side to see usage right, click on it.

  • Two options would display as shown below,
    click on creative common licenses.

Licensable would be written on all the images that are free to use as shown below.
