Order is one thing everyone that craves for mastery should not joke with because it adds colour to your rank, while disorder on the other hand disqualifies a man from whatever he wants to achieve. Since validation process is compulsory to grant one access into this great community I humbly present my validation article in other to gain the maximum access I need in this platform to be impacted and to impact.

Just as most of the activities we engage ourselves in has rules or regulations that governs them so also does writing. Content etiquette talks about all the rules and regulations or the DOs and DON'Ts that governs writing at large. Plagiarism is one of the DON'T in the rules and regulations of content etiquette.

Plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work. In educational contexts, there are differing definitions of plagiarism depending on the institution. Plagiarism is considered a violation of academic integrity and a breach of journalistic ethics. It is subject to sanctions such as penalties, suspension, expulsion from school or work,substantial fines and even imprisonment.

Since is a serious offense both in the academic world and this great community I will ensure I reference any article that is gotten, so that I won't face the penalty designed for offenders.

Copyright (or author’s right) is a legal term used to describe the rights that creators have over their literary and artistic works. Works covered by copyright range from books, music, paintings, sculpture, and films, to computer programs, databases, advertisements, maps, and technical drawings.

The use of work that are protected by copyright without permission from the original owner is what is referred to as copyright abuse.

Copyright infringement (at times referred to as piracy) is the use of works protected by copyright without permission for a usage where such permission is required, thereby infringing certain exclusive rights granted to the copyright holder, such as the right to reproduce, distribute, display or perform the protected work, or to make derivative works.

I will do everything possible to ensure that I don't bring copyright protected works into this platform, I would do all the possible checks to be sure the work is free to be used before using it. And one of the way to achieve this is to check the license details of the work you are about to use to be sure is not a protected one.

Copyright free images can be found by following the following steps:

  • Go to www.google.com

  • Type the name of the work you are looking for.

Screenshot_20220125-101117.png

  • Click on images

Screenshot_20220125-112040.png

  • Click on this icon

  • Then move to the right hand side to see usage right, click on it.

  • Two options would display as shown below, click on creative common licenses.

Licensable would be written on all the images that are free to use as shown below.

For us to properly cite Images or articles that are not protected the following steps would be useful; for images;

  • click on the image and click on the visit icon as shown below

Screenshot_20220125-124104.png

  • When page opens long click on the image to see the following options.

Screenshot_20220125-124354.png

  • click on open image, as it opens copy web address and come to the posting interface do the following;
  • paste the address where you want the image to be
  • Click on enter tab and open square bracket where you will write your source and a curve bracket where you will paste the address, like this
    [Source](web address)

For you to show the license details of the image, the following steps should be followed;

  • click on one of the image
  • when it opens you will find license details as shown below click on it.

Screenshot_20220125-111612.png

  • Then it would bring this interface,
    Screenshot_20220125-111719.png

Copy the web address, cite it as we did before, but the difference is that the square bracket would carry license details like this;
[License details](Web address)

It is almost same process with citing an article, you just copy the URL address and do what I described above by opening the two brackets and write source in the square bracket and web address in the curved bracket.

The penalty for plagiarism and copyright abuse is clearly spelt out in the write up made by the admin @wordoffootball as shown below;

Effective immediately, any user found guilty of plagiarism or content abuse will be banned from this community and place on the "muted" status, after which they can no longer share any content here.
