INTRODUCTION

Good day Everyone. I trust we're all doing fine?
In respect to my Achievement 2 task (Basic Security on STEEMIT). I'll be talking about the Basic security keys on STEEMIT, Their individual use and functions and how to keep and save them in the appropriate way. I'll also be talking about how to send STEEM TOKEN to other users on STEEMIT and how a user can also power up.

Cryptocurrency security includes everything we need to know and be aware of about the potential dangers that maybe consistent on the crypto space, as well as the rudimentary steps we can take to make our crypto assets or investments safe.

It is paramount that we are enlightened on the fact that the crypto space is not tightly regulated like our regular banks, meaning that they do not provide the same level of money security as we see in the banks. Owing to this, if funds are lost, they can be lost permanently.

STEEMIT KEYS.

Immediately a steemit account is created, five different keys or passwords are allocated to the account. Out of which four of these keys are used with typical accounts and the fifth is used by witnesses. They include: posting, active, owner, memo, and signing keys. They all have their functions and individual use, losing any of these keys would lead to funds or other functions of the account inaccessible.

OWNER KEY

This key gives total control over your Steem account. It enables the user to vote, post, transfer funds, vote for witnesses, and change other keys including the owner key itself

ACTIVE KEY

This key creates room to perform basically all operations on STEEMIT. The active key makes it possible for transferring, trading, powering up/powering down Steem Power, and voting.

POSTING KEY

This key makes it possible for accounts to post, comment, vote, and follow other accounts on Steemit. This key is actually important also because this is what most users should use in logging in to their respective Steemit accounts everyday, using the active key only when they want to transfer funds or change key.

MEMO KEY

This is the only key that can decode or decrypt private messages sent or received by a Steemit account.

SIGNING KEY

This key is sometimes used by witnesses to sign blocks. It is placed with the update_witness transaction signed using an active or owner key.

HOW I SAVED MY STEEMIT KEYS.

After I downloaded the PDF containing my STEEMIT KEYS, I made an extra copy of it and saved it on my drives both online and offline, also on a hardware device as well.

HOW TO TRANSFER YOUR STEEM TOKEN TO ANOTHER STEEM USER ACCOUNT

Briefly I'll elaborate on how a steemit user can transfer STEEM TOKEN to another user

STEP ONE:

Click on your profile picture and select wallet.

STEP TWO:

By clicking on the arrow pointing downwards beside the STEEM DOLLAR balance which will bring up a list of options where you'll see transfer.

STEP THREE:

you input the Steemit accounts username that you want to transfer the STEEM TOKEN to alongside the amount of Steemit to transfer. You'll be asked to provide a key to confirm the transaction.

HOW TO POWER UP YOUR STEEM

The same step above also for powering up. For better clarification, I'll be using illustration

STEP ONE:

By selecting the STEEM option a set of options will appear.

STEP TWO:

Amongst the options available, you'll select power up.

STEP THREE:

Input the amount of STEEM you'd like to use in powering up.

CONCLUSION

It's very crucial that we keep in mind that these keys are not to be tempered with, they're to be kept safe.
