#Achievement-1 - Hello Everyone! This is my introduction post to Steemit

Hi Guys! I’m Praveen Weerasinghe from Sri Lanka. I’m really excited to be a part of Steemit, which seems more to me as a family, than just a platform. Well let me introduce myself to you.

I’m from Sri Lanka. Yeah, that country which the half the population in the world will ask “Is it India?” when I tell them the name of. I’m 24 years old, and I’m studying Civil Engineering at University of Moratuwa. You know I’m at this stage of the eternal life system cycle, trying to stay in rather than walking through it. Ooh, don’t open that door. Let’s go back. So my hometown is Anuradhapura, and I got my primary education in the only boys’ college of the city, St. Joseph’s College. Then after passing the Grade 5 scholarship, I got into Anuradhapura Central College, which I think was the best in the district. Well actually only because they collect all the best resources in there, best students, best teachers, and best facilities etc. Yeah I’m not very fond of that system either.

Anyway I passed the GCE Advanced Level examination, and now I’m here. Just a few steps from my drea… oh hell, who I’m kidding. Steps away from being the one who I raised my hand when my grade 1 teacher asked who we want be in future. Obviously according to the school atmosphere, there were only two choices. Either a doctor or an engineer, doctors seemed too white for me at the time, so I raised my hand for ‘An Engineer’. So here I am.

Sounds too direct for you? Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn. 😎

No, actually it’s not as robotic as it sounds. Always wanted to give something back for all the efforts my father and mother put since I was born, so a motivation was there. 💕

Now I’m a final year student after completing my Industrial Training. Our academic work is now mostly contained into a group project and research works. As of the moment I’m writing this, the University is closed due to COVID-19 pandemic, so it’s kind of a vacation. Vacation is usually like a paradise for me, because then I can watch movies.

Ok this is the perfect chance to get into my hobbies. I’m a movie buff. Don’t mean to sound any big, just a guy who loves watching movies, a guy who prefer movies over people. Yep, perfect definition. I think my brain is filled like 80% about films. Almost like I don’t know anything else. I love the idea of going into a whole another dimension when I put the headset and click the play button. Yeah I guess you could call me an introvert, I’m not very sure though.

My dreams.. are quiet simple. Get two Televisions, at least 50” screen. One for 3D, one of others. Two separate Blu-ray players for each Television. Get the Blu-Ray discs of the movies I love and watch them sitting on a sofa with the beloved one.

Actually I've got the blu-ray thing going on a little. Not much but I'm pretty proud it already😂

Travelling is not my favorite hobby, but anything is cool with my friends. I got the best friends that anyone could ever ask for, it’s sad that the time for hang out together is now so limited since the day we got in different universities. Those were the best times of my life, so much fun.

Good Times with Friends

Oh my hometown. I think I’m the only Steemian so far from Anuradhapura. I actually love the area. My school history books said something about it being the first Kingdom of our country. It’s very old stuff, goes back like 2500 years. There are many temples and lakes that are said to be built by ancient Kings. So you see, there’s a sense of pride. And plus, it makes that there are many historical places to visit, both popular and not. The lifestyle is simple and our house located a bit out of the town, no excessive noise. Unlike when I live in Colombo for my studies, at home it’s peaceful.

Enough? Oh no wait, I love writing. That’s why I’m here on Steemit, and I should thank @randulakoralage for introducing me to this great platform. The problem is that I write whatever that comes to my mind, with no regard of the structure and the looks of it. So to minimize that damage, I mostly write about the movies I watch. As you can see, I tend to be informal, and also sleazy at times. So seriously, good luck reading them.

Steemit looks fun, and the concept of the sharing our experiences and making friends with all around world, is amazing. I mean yeah that’s what any social media does, but hey there’s so much quality content here. As I heard, we can write about anything as we wish, so yeah I think this is going to be heaven. Although I’m doing the introduction only now, I’ve already written couple of posts.

One more thing, I’m Chandler Bing.

Actually I’ve been meaning to ask this question. By any chance, is anyone of you guys a fan of Movies or the Friends TV Show?
