INTRODUCTION
Greetings to all the lovely people on this platform. I am happy to still be here and participate in all the activities that take place here. My account goes by the name of pixie pop and today I am going to write about markdowns in my achievement 4.

MARKDOWN DEFINITION

Markdown is a way to style text on the web. This is normally done through adding images, formatting words as bold or italic and creating lists. The different types of markdown are going to be discussed below;

HEADLINES
This can be done by inserting a hashtag (#) on the left of the word or sentence. The size of words decreases as the number of the hashtags increases.

ITALICS
In case one wants to put text in italics one puts a steric (*) at the beginning of the word or statement and another at the end. For example if I am to put the word memory in italics I will put a steric on the left of the word and another at the right of the word and this will be the result memory.

BOLD
To make a word or statement bold one puts two steric marks (**) at the beginning and at the end of the word.

QUOTING
I’m instances where one wants to quote a statement word for word then one has to put a less than sign at the beginning of the sentence (>).

INSERTION OF IMAGES
When inserting an image one should copy and paste the picture and while quoting the source one should open box brackets and put the word image source and close then and then open the circular brackets and insert the link and then then close them off.

INSERTION OF LINKS
In instances where one wants to add a link to show the source of a link then one has to open box brackets and insert the word “source” and close them and then open circular brackets and the link and close them off.

Use of markdowns helps readers easily read and understand the text.
