Today i will continue with my achievement 3 post which is on "Content Etiquette".

Copying and pasting of someone else idea, claiming ownership of the content its very bad and it is called Plagiarism. its highly prohibited in steemit.

What is Plagiarism?
According to the oxford Dictionary

"Plagiarism is presenting someone else's work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement." Source

Plagiarism to me is the copying, and pasting of an authors content without citing the source of the content.

Types of Plagiarism

We several types of plagiarism, but among many i have choosen the underlisted and i will explain them to us.

• Direct plagiarism:

From the name we will know that this type of plagiarism is when a user copies and paste an authors content without editing or changing anything from the original content and presenting it as his or her own content. The steemit community is against plagiarism.

• Self Plagiarism:

One can actually be a victim of plagarism when you repost your old content prensenting it as a new content. That is plagiarism. And it is highly prohibited here in steemit.

• Mosaic Plagiarism:
  This plagiarism is when a user copies different author's content from different platforn, plresenting it as his or her own content. That act is very bad and its tag as plagiarism.

• Accidental Plagiarism:

This happens when a user skips citing the source of a content correctly. It is actually when you were unable to trace the source of a content.

I will advice us to use a plagiarism checker to check our contents before posting them.

Penalties for Plagiarism
There are several penalties for plagiarism viz;

• It affects your reputation
• Your post will be downvoted.
• Your post can be flagged.
• User can be ban if he or she continues posting copied contents without citing the source.

How can one avoid Plagiarism?

• Always cite the source of your copies content or image.
• You can use a Plagiarism Checker to check for plagiarisn titles or write ups on your post.
• You can make use of Paraphrasing and Quotation.
