MEANING OF PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism is said to be an act of copying one's presentation, idea or work thereby making it look almost similar. It has to do with the borrowing of one's pattern and copying it into your work without referencing or citing the original owner of the work.
Further definition of plagiarism involves collecting another man's credit which he deserves due to the incorporation of his work into your work.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism has five (5) different types according to how one copy another's work. They are:

• Direct (verbatim) Plagiarism

• Global Plagiarism

• Self Plagiarism

• Paraphrasing Plagiarism

• Copy and Paste Plagiarism

1. Direct (Verbatim) Plagiarism

This involves taking a part of one's work and pasting it into your work without citing or making reference to the original owner of the work.

2. Global plagiarism

This kind of plagiarism involves the total usage or copy of one's work without referencing or citing the original owner of the work. That is, nothing is being added and nothing is also being changed too. This is know as global plagiarism.

3. Paraphrasing Plagiarism

This is copying an aspect of a paragraph from one's work. It requires you citing them or referencing them even when you changed some of the sentences in it.

4. Mosaic Plagiarism

This involves the creation of a work or writeup by using several parts or points belonging to several people. This is known as mosaic plagiarism.

5. Copy and Paste Plagiarism

This type of plagiarism involves the copying of one's work word for word. That is, nothing is being changed or altered and without referencing or citing the original owner of the work.

Plagiarism is really a serious offence that needs to be looked into. It's not good because you can't be profiting from another man's time and effort.
