Hello fellow Steem members, it's my joy to proceed to another task today. Here is my task submission

Write an article or post about "What is Plagiarism" with minimum of 200 words by applying the citation method as explained in the above section using the citation markdown provided. Use citations/sources on the photo that you get from the website or photostock website.

What is plagiarism

Plagiarism is a crime, it involve stealing of another person work/content without informing them and without making reference to the real owner.

According to Oxford dictionary,
“Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. All published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form, is covered under this definition. Plagiarism may be intentional or reckless, or unintentional. Under the regulations for examinations, intentional or reckless plagiarism is a disciplinary offence.” Source

Types of plagiarism

1. Direct Plagiarism: This involve copying and pasting the whole work of another person with referencing to them.
(Words for words copy and paste)

2. Self Plagiarism: This is when someone mixes one of his/her past work with the present work. They always do this kind of thing to make their wark plenty.

3. Mosaic Plagiarism: This involves copying one or two phrases of another author post without giving it reference or quotation marks.

4. Accidental Plagiarism: This involves neglecting to add source or when there is misquote of sources, or failing to paraphrase a source having similar words

Causes of plagiarism

1. To earn good reward: Many people plagiarize works because they want to earn good remarks and reward. So they look out for best post and copy them in order to get the same reward

2. Laziness: This is the Paramount aspect or reason why people plagiarize works. They are too lazy to develop their own self made content

3. Lack of confidence: Many people don't believe in their intelligent, they believe in people than what they can offer

How to check plagiarism

There is this app I used to check my works whenever I want to post on steemit. The application is called grammarly, it works both on Android phones and PC.
You will paste your write up and it will automatically direct you to the site that have the same words with your write-up.

Consequences of plagiarism

Here on steemit, their are punishment for plagiarism. The following are the punishments;

1. Flagging: Any post on steemit that is found guilty of plagiarism will be flagged and this will make the post irrelevant

2. Downvoting: If you plagiarize anyone work on steemit, there are some whale that will downvote your work.

3. Ruin Reputation: Nowadays, reputation matters on steemit, their are some platform and some contest that requires certain reputation. If you are a constant plagiarist your reputation will be low and this will limited your access to full enjoy on Steemit

4. Low income: A plagiarist will receive low or no upvote on his/her post, so there will be low or now income for plagiarists

How to avoid plagiarism

1. Citing your source: It's advisable to always give a source to any copy work you made. Don't take the glory of another person work.

2. Including quotation marks: Always include quotation marks to another person work

3. Creating your own content: Be you, it's important to be real. You are intelligent, you can do what other people does by yourself or even more than other people do.

4. Using plagiarism checker: Plagiarism checker are good applications that guide you on your post. Always use plagiarism check to know where your copied work are not cited

5. Paraphrasing your works: Always paraphrase your copied work
