Achievement 2 @okoriepresh27 Task: Basic security on steem.

Hello steem community, how are you doing today?
I'm happy to be here once again. Having finished my Achievement 1 regarding my introduction, I'd be taken my next task; Achievement 2.
In this article, i will be explaining the functions of each steem key and how we can use them the right way in other to keep our steem account secured.
It's going to be mainly about the basic security knowledge of steemit.
Lets start with the list of the keys.
Upon signing up on the steemit platform, we are been given a pdf file which contains keys to be used for different activities on our steemit account. Those keys includes;
a. Master Password
b. Owner key
c. Active key
d. Posting key
e. Memo key

Here are the functions of each key:

• Master Password: A closer look on the sentence on the pdf file, we would see that it describes this key as; "THE SEED PASSWORD used to generate this document".

Why so?
This is because, the master key as the name implies, lives up to its name. It is the most important key in the document. This steem key could be used to regenerate all other keys for the specific steem account. This key should not be shared.

• Owner key: It is a very important and Powerful key just like the master password. This key could be used to change any key of an account. It is advisable to store this key and the master key offline. it is also used to recover account.
• Active key: It is used for the transferring of tokens, voting for witnesses, power up and down, and converting steem dollars.
  It also used in steem market transactions.
• Posting key: it is the most advisable key to use in everyday logging into steemit, since the much use of most important keys could get our account compromised.
  This key also allows user to post, comment, resteem, vote and follow or unmute an account.
• Memo Key: This key is used to encrypt and decrypt messages during transactions on the blockchain.

Those are the basic knowledge we need to have concerning Steem and functions of our steem keys.

Answers to questions asked

I have retrieved all the accounts keys listed above in the form of a PDF files and have placed them in a safe place.

Concerning my master key I have made an offline copy of it making it safer and easier to recover my account if compromised.

Also having read through the article by @Kwisicanfly on @understandingyoursteemwallet , I can say yes that I can transfer my steem tokens to other Steem accounts and that I know how to power up and down my steem.

Here is a screenshot to guide us on how to do it - the transfer of Steem and power up.

Let's start with the transfer of steem.
First, you need to login to your wallet using your posting key, preferrably.

When you are now logged into your wallet, click on Steem. You'd notice a drop. Choose to transfer.

The next step is to type in the Steem account you want to send to, and the amount of steem you'd want to transfer.

Click next.
You'd be asked to confirm. Click okay.

You'd next be asked to complete the transfer using your active, owner or Master password.

After that, the transaction is done.

Now, Let's go over to Power up.

To power up, you would also need to log into your wallet using the posting key or Master password. But, that's if you haven't done that for the first time.

When you are logged in, go to steem, and click for the drop.
Choose power up.

Chose the amount of steem you want to power up, click on the "Power up" highlighted and confirm the vesting.
Sign-in then your active, owner or Master password.
Power up completed.

That is how to power up your steem.
