ACHIEVEMENT 2: BASIC SECURITY ON STEEM by @nkwainbryan
The steem system is built with high level security in order to prevent Hackers to gain access into one's account. In order to work on steemit, understanding this various security keys and how to use them becomes a necessity.
Have you retrieved all your keys?
Yes, my keys are retrieved and stored in a good and highly secured place with high guarantee of safety. My keys are stored both offline in my harddrive and online in my onedrive account.
Knowing each of this keys, their functions and restrictions becomes very necessary in order to work well on steemit. These keys are separated into fours categories with different activities they perform on steemit. The first key to understand is the :
posting key
The posting key allow users to post, comment, upvoting, downvoting, resteem, follow or mute others accounts. The posting key can do the least of activities on steemit and also donot require high levels of security.
Active Key
This key is used mainly for sensitive issues such as transferring of funds, powerup, powerdown,converting steem dollar, voting for witnesses, updating profile detail and avatar, and placing a market order.
Owner Key
Owner keys are very important as they can be use to change any other key of an account including the owner accounts itself.
Memo key
This key is used for encrypting and decrpting memos when transferring funds. In order to encrypt a memo, use the pound/# sign before it.
How do you plan to keep your master key?
Seeing that the master key can be use to access and change the other keys, it therefore need high security. I will store it on my harddrive, writedown on a paper and keep among my special files and store it in my one drive account to ensure it safety .
Do you know how to transfer steem token to another account?
When transferring steem token to another account, this few steps can give you seccess.
Go to profile icon,
Go to wallet,
Go to steem, Click on arrow down and chose transfer, a box will appear and you'll input the neccessary information which include the account username you're sending to, the amount and the memo password and click NEXT.
Do you know how to power up your steem?
In powering up your steem, certain steps are needed
Go to profile icon,
Go to wallet,
Go to steem and chose power up, a box will appear and you'll input the amount you want to power up and click on POWER UP button.
