Do You Understand How Voting And Curation Work On Steemit?

Voting

Voting can be described as a way of showing appreciation, or liking a particular post or article written by an author. On other social media platform like Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook amongst others, such actions are just mere likes. On the STEEMIT platform, they are called upvotes. On STEEMIT we have two different kinds of votes which are upvotes and downvotes.

Upvotes: This is the type of votes that shows that the reader actually found the article interesting and likes your write up. On STEEMIT it's mostly an arrow facing upward and in the color green.
Downvote: This is just the opposite of the upvote. When a reader doesn't find your work amusing or sees that there are sorts of violations in ones articles, they can decide to downvote your article. On STEEMIT its an arrow facing downwards in the color red.

Curation

On the STEEMIT platform, there are curators. Curators are those high level account that posses high voting power. Curation is the rewards gotten when a curator upvotes your article. This rewards is in form of steem based dollar(SBD).

It is also important to note that when a curator upvotes your post, 50% of that reward goes to them as payment for Thier vote and the remaining 50% goes to the author of the post.

What Will Happen When You Upvote A Post Before Five Minutes After Posting?

The rewards received by curators for Thier votes varies based on the time taken to yovote a particular post. Here's a table to make sense of it all.

Time	Distribution
One minute	Curator receives 20% and 80% remains in the reward pool.
Two minutes	Curator receives 40% and 60% remains in the reward pool.
Three minutes	Curator receives 60% and 40% remains in the reward pool.
Four minutes	Curator receives 80% and 20% remains in the reward pool
Five Minutes & beyond	Curator receives all 100% reward leaving nothing in the reward pool.

Who Will You Choose To Be Steem Witness And Why Him?

To vote for a Steem Witness, You have to visit the vote witness page.
On this page, you can only be able to vote active Witnesses and up to 30 witnesses.

Once you're on this page, you have various witnesses in which you can vote for. All you need to is to click on the green upvote arrow close to their usernames.

Which Community Will You Join On Steemit And Why Are You Following It?

Well, upon joining Steemit, the first community I joined was the Newcomers Community. Where I got to meet newcomers like me trying to figure out how the STEEM network operates. Thanks to them, I believe I have all the knowledge I need on how the network works.

I aslo joined Campusconnect Community. Where I could find post and useful articles related to campus life and other entertaining content as well.
There are other communities in which I'll love to join in the future, but let's take it one step at a time.
