Good day steemians. I believe you all doing great? I want to use this time to complete my achievement 3 task "Content Etiquette" and "Plagiarism".

I will use some few questions to explain "Content Etiquette " and "Plagiarism".

What is plagiarism?

According to the oxford language,
the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own.source

To me, Plagiarism can be seen as the act of poaching someone else's work, ideas or content without citing the source or recognising the owner. Another name for plagiarism is stealing, poaching, piggy, piracy, etc.

Types of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is furtherly divided into several types, i will list and explain just a few of them.

• Direct Plagiarism: This is the act of copying and presenting an author's as ones own without editing it, not even editing the puntuation marks.

• Self plagiarism: Self plagiarism is the act of presenting your previous work as a new post. It is the act of reusing same words you used in your old work. It us tag as plagiarism in steemit community.

• Accidental Plagiarism: This is the act of presenting a work that has already used or posted by another user without your notice. As the name implies accidental.

• Source based Plagiarism: This type of plagiarism may occure when a writer uses a wrong link to cite the source of an author's work.

• Mosaic Plagiarism: This is act of copying different author's work, merging them to form one post and also, presenting it as your work. This act is plagiarism and it is not accepted in the steemit community.

Consequences of Plagiarism

• It attract continuos flagging of one's post.
• It can make you loss your reputation.
• It attracts downvotes on one's post.

How to avoid plagiarism

• Always cite the source of your copied content.
• Make use of Plagiarism checker before presenting your work.
• Paraphrase from your copied content. (Add your own words or ideas).

In conclusion, plagiarism is a bad act and everyone should abstain totally from such act as it is not allowed here in steemit community. Be creative and bring your own ideas to live.

I have studied and understood what plagiarism and how i can abstain totally from plagiarism. I will always make sure that i'm not a victim of plagiarism.
