Achievement 2: All you need to know about basic security at Steemit by @lailatulferdawsi
Hello! First, I want to extend my sincere love to all of you. I wish everyone well. You're here if you are new to Steemit or want to know more about the security system and other essential features. This blog post will give you a detailed overview of how to secure your Steemit account and the various ways to add Steem Power. This post is for everyone, whether you are a new user or an expert. Let's get into the details and see how this incredible platform works!
Steem Blockchain is the foundation of Steemit, a decentralized social media platform. One of the critical features of Steemit is its security system. It protects user accounts and prevents unauthorized access. This blog will provide a detailed look at the keys that secure a Steemit account and how to add SteemPower(SP) to your Steemit account.
Steemit Keys
You can use four keys to access your Steemit account:
Owner key: This key is essential for Steemit accounts as it gives you complete control of the bill and all its assets. It is crucial to keep the private owner key secret as anyone who has access to it can make changes to your account, such as transferring funds or changing account settings.
Active key: This key has additional permissions that allow for sensitive monetary operations such as token exchange and transfer. Who may use your Active key to authenticate while performing a wallet-related transaction? Anyone with access to your Active key can steal your tokens. Therefore, only trust apps should have your Active Key. Do not lose tickets by storing this key securely.
Posting key: This key can be used for social networking operations like commenting, voting, and posting. This key is restricted and cannot be used to make monetary transactions. Who cannot use this key to make money? Who can use this key to log into other social networks, such as Steemit and Busy, supported by Steam? This key should be kept safe.
Memo key: The Memo key is unique. Only the Memo Key can encrypt or decrypt private messages sent to it via blockchain. This feature could be compelling in the future, but it is rarely used. It would be best if you only used the Memo Key to decrypt private communications you have received.
Important to remember that these keys are not the only ones available. There are also "public" keys for each key. Who can share these public keys with others, but do they need to allow access to your account and permit people to make changes? It's best to keep your account private if you need clarification or if it is messy.
Steem Power:
Steem Power (SP) measures an account's influence and reputation on Steemit. An account's Steem Power measures how influential it is on Steemit. Who can use it to influence the platform by gaining more votes and weight? You can add Steem Power to your account in many ways:
Powering up: You can add Steem Power to your account by "powering up" the STEEM tokens. You can power up STEEM to convert them into SP. This SP is locked in your account for a time (usually 13 weeks). You can reverse this process by "powering down," but you will need to wait 13 weeks before your SP is converted back into STEEM. Here are the steps to power up Steem:
Click on "Wallet" in the top menu to access your Steemit account.
Click on the "STEEM" tab to the right of the page. There, you will see the button "Power Up."
In the "Amount" column, enter the Steem amount you want to use.
To start the power-up process, click the "Power Up" button.
You will be asked to enter your owner or active keys to complete the transaction.
Transferring Steem: Delegating Steem Power from another account is another way to increase Steem Power. The SP you have delegated to another account retains control, but the recipient account can vote for rewards and use it to earn them rewards. The original owner can "undelegated" delegated SP at any time. You will need the Steemit wallet to transfer Steem Power or Steem Steem (SP) on Steemit. This tutorial will show you how to transfer Steem or SP.
Click on "Wallet" in the top menu to access your Steemit account.
Click on the "STEEM" tab to the right of the page. There will be the "Transfer" button.
Enter the username or account number of the person to whom you wish to send the Steem/SP in the "To" section.
You can enter the Steem/SP amount you wish to send in the "Amount" field. The drop-down menu beside the "Amount" field allows you to specify the currency, such as STEEM or SP.
You can also enter an optional message in the "Memo" field to be included with the transfer:
To initiate the transfer, click the "Next" button.
You will need to enter your activation or owner key depending on the amount of Steem, or SP transferred to complete the transaction.
Buying Steem Power: Steem Power can add to your account through open-market purchases from Steemit users and cryptocurrency exchanges.
The security system on Steemit was designed to protect user accounts and prevent unauthorized access to funds. It works with four keys: owner key, active, posting, and memo keys. Who should not share these keys? You can add Steem Power to your account by powering up STEEM tokens or delegating SP from another account.
